The 2023 Summer Game Fest event kicked off with the reveal of a newPrince of Persiagame in development at Ubisoft,Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.Prince of Persiawas once one of Ubisoft’s key franchises, but it’s been over a decade since a substantial new game in the series has hit store shelves.
ThePrince of Persiafranchise has been dormant for quite some time, but Ubisoft is looking to bring it back in a big way. One way it’s accomplishing this is through thePrince of Persia: The Sands of Timeremake.Fan reaction to theSands of Timeremake has been mostly negative, with many voicing their disapproval of the game’s graphics. Ubisoft has gone back to the drawing board with the remake, and at this point, there’s no telling when fans will get to play it. Luckily, there will be a newPrince of Persiaexperience to help fill the void in the meantime.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownwas announced at Summer Game Fest 2023 with an exciting trailer that confirmed its Jun 11, 2025 release date.Prince of Persia: The Lost Crownis taking thePrince of Persiafranchise back to its 2D platformer roots, with a big focus on action, boss fights, and puzzle solving. While somePrince of Persiafans may prefer something more in line with the 3D action games from the PS2 era, the game still looks very impressive based on what’s been shown so far.
Prince of Persiafans will have to wait until next year to play throughThe Lost Crownfor themselves, but they won’t have to wait nearly as long to get another look at the game. Ubisoft is hosting its own special event as part of Summer Game Fest calledUbisoft Forward, scheduled to take place on Monday, June 12 at 10am PT. It’s been promised that another look atPrince of Persia: The Lost Crownis coming at that point, though it remains to be seen exactly what will be shown at the event.
While fans wait for Ubisoft Forward to roll around on June 12, they can get some additional details from the trailer’s YouTube description. The main character inPrince of Persia: The Lost Crownis named Sargon, and he has access to acrobatic skills as well asspecial Time Powers.
