Granite is found relatively early on inMy Time at Sandrock, and it’s needed for a number of intermediate and advanced construction projects later down the tech tree. This crafting material may seem unassuming at first, but it’s more important than what many beginners might think.

Though not as crucial as Copper or Tin, Granite is still a valuable early resource inMy Time at Sandrockthat serves as the foundation for mid-tier technology. Getting this requires a bit of effort, however, and most players won’t be able to mine it until they make some quest progress with the town’s denizens. Here’s how to get Granite as early as possible.

Where to Find Granite in My Time at Sandrock

Granite nodes can be found along the crags of the Valley of Whispers, which is located directly east of Sandrock. Individual nodes can be spotted by the base of cliffs or near the towering rock spires in the area. There are a few caveats, however.

First, Granite cannot be mined with the default Pickhammer, somake sure to get an upgrade first(preferably an Iron Pickhammer) before venturing out. Next, the Valley of Whispers is covered in toxic fog by default. Stepping into the canyon will cause players to take periodic damage for as long as they stay in the gas. Lastly, enemies around the valley are of relatively high level.

To get rid of the toxic fog, they must complete the Clean the Air quest. Otherwise, finish the Missing Leak quest from Trudy to get a Protective Suit that blocks all toxic damage. Protective Suits can be made at a Tailoring Station using 5x Canvas, 3x Fiber Mesh, 4x Plastic Shell, and 2x Tempered Glass. Players must be at least Level 10 in order to wear these suits.

The majority of Granite nodes are inside the toxic fog. However, players can still mine some along the outskirts of the Valley of Whispers. Check the outcrops above the valley and follow the train tracks leading to the northeast. Players can also find a number of Gravel and Sulfur nodes along the upper areas.

Granite is used for the construction of Granite Tiles and Slabs. The former is used tocraft Intermediate Tailoring Machines, and the latter is used to craft the Intermediate Forging Machine and Advanced Cooking Station.

Granite Tiles and Slabs can be given as gifts to Sandrock’s residents. Yan, Trudy, Mi-an, Heidi, Hugo, and Jensen are particularly receptive to these items. Players should keep a few of these items in stock if they want to improve their relationships with these NPCs.
