There are hundreds of different Materials that are used in crafting withinMonster Hunter: Rise. And, some of them are a bit more of a pain to gather than others, especially the ones that require players to hunt down and carve the Smaller Monsters on the map.

High-Quality Pelts are a good example of these, as they’re a High Rank Material drop used to build a rather large handful of different items. Of course, it’s all worth it, as theMonster Hunterfranchise is one ofCapcom’s best-selling and most beloved. Still, to save players some from having to waste time farming these, let’s go over some of the best things to spend High-Quality Pelts on inMonster Hunter: Rise.

How To Obtain High-Quality Pelts

First off let’s go over how exactly Hunters are supposed to find these Small Monster Materials that only sell for a meager 330 Zenny, otherwise known as High-Quality Pelts. Well, there are three specific routes:

All Items That Use High-Quality Pelts

As High-Quality Pelts are a High Rank Material, most of the Armor and Weapons that use them are High Rank as well. And, while there are certainly some options that are better to use Pelts on than others, it’s still worth listing them all out for future reference:

The Best Gear To Craft First With High-Quality Pelts

Finally, let’s get to the real focus, the best items to craft first with High-Quality Pelts. Of course, these recommendations will differ depending on the need of the Hunter, their play style, and their weapon of choice. But, in general, these are the best options:

Volvidon Mail S

Rapid Morph 1, Jump Master 1

A fantastic early-game option for Charge Blade, Switch Axe, or even Insect Glaive players thanks toJump MasterandRapid Morph. Plus, later on, whenLayered Armor is unlocked (AKA Transmog), the Volvidon set is a great choice for that as well.

Kadachi Greaves S

Constitution 1, Critical Eye 2

Getting points ofCritical Eyein High Rank is helpful for pumping out high damage numbers, andConstitutionjust makes combat easier. Plus, all the variations of the Kadachi Set, be it Low, High, or Master Rank, are incredibly useful overall.

Hunter’s Greaves S

Stun Resistance 1, Attack Boost 2

While not the best High-Rank Greaves, in terms of defense, the two points ofAttack Boostthis early on in the game can do a lot, andStun Resistanceis always a great quality-of-life Skill to have.

Arzuros Helm S

Fortify 1, Defense Boost 2

One of the best early High-Rank pieces for newMonster Hunterplayers thanks toFortifymaking repeat carts difficult andDefense Boostmaking it harder to cart at all.

Cyclecaster (HBG)

Fast Reload, Wyvernheart Special Ammo, 180 Attack

One of the better Rarity 4 Heavy Bowguns (one ofRise’s3 ranged options), especially since it has theAttack Boost 3Rampage Skill available.

Anteka Burst II (HBG)

Above Average Reload, Wyvernheart Special Ammo, 180 Attack

The only real Rarity 5 item that uses High-Quality Pelts, so it has the highest damage return for Pelts spent. Plus, the three Rarity 1 Decoration Slots are great for slotting in some convenience Skills likeFlinch Free,Stun Resistance,or evenDefense Boost

Grass Flute II (HH)

Blast 12, Wind Pressure Negated/Health Regen/Sonic Barrier Melody Effects, 150 Attack

The Hunting Horn’s comedic option that’s unlocked through side quests, the Grass Flute 2 is a lot more viable to use than a lot of other weapon’s ‘funny’ weapon trees. The Blast damage is decent on HH and it has pretty well-rounded Melody Effects.

Teddybear II (Hammer)

Sleep 34, 120 Attack

And finally, there’s the comedic Hammer tree, the Teddybear branch. While this Hammer or its Upgrades aren’t incredibly useful later oncompared to other weapons, the blue Sharpness, Sleep application, and overall damage of the weapon are well worth the High-Quality Pelt investment.

Monster Hunter Riseis currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
