This morning saw the reveal ofMonster Hunter Riseversion 3.0, meaning players are going to be treated to a whole new array of content. While many of the changes are interesting, few could drum up as much excitement as the reveal of what new monsters are coming to the game. Despite the alreadyimpressive amount of monsters players can hunt, there are still tons from previous games that didn’t make the cut just yet. This time around one new monster is making its way into the game and another is getting a new Apex form.

Just likeMonster Hunter World, Capcom is keepingMonster Hunter Risealive and well with regular content updates. These are free to all players, meaning there’s no need to purchase DLC or anything like that. The update is scheduled to release at 5 PM PT on May, and players will be able to hunt these new monsters as soon as it is installed.

Making its first appearance in a main game since it was introduced back inMonster Hunter GenerationsUltimate, Valstrax makes its glorious return.Referred to as Crimson Glow Valstraxthis time around, it is sure to bring the same level of intensity to the fight, and with the player’s enhanced maneuverability, they may be able to keep up with it just a little bit better. This Elder Dragon uses dragon energy to propel itself through the air at incredible speeds, has several ranged attack, and is just as deadly up close.

Aside from Crimson Glow Valstrax, fans are also being treated to Apex Zinogre hunts. This golden furred variant is larger, faster, and stronger, and fans can expect its lighting attacks to hit even harder than before. Along the same lines, the already existingApex Rathalos and Apex Diabloswill now appear in main quests, so players will be able to get some more practice in taking down these terrible foes. Although Valstrax and Apex Zinogre were the only two monsters revealed during today’s event, there will likely be at least one more new monster coming with the update.

This is not confirmed, but many fans are expecting Deviljho to make a surprise appearance as well.Monster Hunter Riseinfamously added Bazelgeuse without including it in the patch notes, causing players to be surprised when the bomber came to ruin a fair fight. Deviljho works similarly to Bazelgeuse in that they both show up at unexpected times and complicate things, so this theory does have some merit.
