Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 Release Date
Activision and Infinity Ward have not formally announced the Season 5 start date. The timer in-game gives a good estimate of when Season 4 will end which gives an easy estimate window at a possible start. The closest thing to a confirmation is the streamerteaser videos found by NICKMERCS, TeeP, and Jackfrags. At the top of each video is the date July 24, 2025. As this is set in the future, fans are assuming that the events shown in the clips will occur on that date.
Combining this small detail with the battle pass’s countdown timer players can make one major assumption: season 4 may end on August 4th with Season 5 launching on August 5th.
Warzone Changes
The same videos that teased the release date each held a small clip of an event coming to Verdansk. In a charity stream, it was revealed that Verdansks’s story is only beginning and confirming that it is way too soon to be expecting a new map. That would mean that the developers are planning on taking aFortniteapproach to the game by evolving the map over time to fit the needs for an evolving story.
Each of the streamer’sWarzoneteaser videos held a tip as to what could be coming to the game. The first was set in the inside of a train that was signaling that it was leaving the station. This teaser reinforces the chance for amoving train inWarzoneto have a big impact on the next season. TheXclusiveAce visited the spot found in the video only to discover that the train is already set and ready to leave.
The Stadium has also been a major point of excitement and discussion. After players were able toglitch inside of the Stadium, they discovered that it was rather empty. Things did not heat up until TeeP was sent a teaser of a room inside. After a few minutes, his video cuts out as if interrupted by an explosion. Jackfrags was given the other half of the Stadium puzzle as players can clearly see a helicopter landing inside of the Stadium shortly after the explosion.
This could be a hint that theStadium will open up in Season 5giving players a chance to explore a new section of the map. If there is to be anything that changes theWarzonemap most fans agree that the Stadium will be an important staging point.
Shadow Company
All three of the content creators who discovered the secret videos were sent a package with a letter fromLurch, a Senior Officer of Shadow Company. This has many fans super excited at the possibility that Shadow Company might make an appearance as playable operators in the next season. Whether or not they are playable, there is little doubt that Shadow Company is pivotal in the Season 5 storyline headed forWarzone.
New Operators
Although there are no official announcements of new operators, many fans are excited at a leaked set of code suggesting thatFrank Woods may be coming toModern Warfare.Woods is a famous operator in theCall of Dutyfranchise, and withWarzonecrossing borders, there is a high chance that Woods may be making an appearance in this battle royale experience.
Outside of Woods, there are rumors of Lurch appearing as a representative of Shadow Company. There is also whispers of John ‘Soap’ MacTavish joining the cast after a member of the development team mentioned it during the charity stream. If other seasons are accurate, then fans can expect at least one new operator to be added in Season 5.
New Weapons
There has so far been twomajor weapon leaksinvolving Season 5. After a data miner found the code files for ‘m200’ and ‘m200_c’ players started predicting the next set of weapons. The ‘m200’ weapon files refer to the CheyTac Intervention bolt-action sniper rifle. This weapon, simply known as the Intervention, made an appearance back inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2making it a perfect fit for the 2020Modern Warfarerelease.
The second weapon files were mined by @BKTOOR_ and they pointed towards a possible revisitation of the Remington Model 700, or R700. Both of these leakers have provided more Season 5 updates giving credibility to these two leaks of possible weapons.
There were a few other guns lifted from the game files earlier in the year. The AN-94 is rumored to be making an appearance along with the infamous SPAS-12 shotgun. Neither of these weapons have made a debut as of yet which leaves them on the list ofpossible weapons for Season 5.
New Maps
Map leaks are still begin discovered with the Cornfield being the most recent discovery of fans.Cornfield is expected for Season 5after a recent leak uncovered an image along with some minor information about its intended game modes.
Highrise was also rumored to be making an appearance at some point inModern Warfarebut there is no guarantee that it’s planned for Season 5. Players can probably count on maps lifted from the older games in the franchise and maybe one or two redesigns. Out of everything leaked, maps are one of the few surprises still in store forModern WarfareSeason 5.
Season 5 Battle Pass
No one is sure of what will be in the Season 5 battle pass. Based on previous experience, fans can probably expect abattle pass debut operatoralong with the same 100 tier progression. The cost will most likely stay the same asking for 1000 COD Points ($9.99) for the season. If Infinity Ward offers the same bundle as previous seasons, then players have the opportunity to buy the pass and first 20 tiers at 2400 CP ($19.99).
