Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remasteredexcited a number of fans when it was announced. However, some fans were disappointed that PlayStation players could play the game a month early, while others wait until the end of April. It turns out there is a good reason for this, although it may disappoint Xbox players.

According to the YouTube channel The Gaming Revolution, the reason for the delay of the release ofModern Warfare 2is contractual, as Sony contributed financially to the development of the remaster and the future remaster ofModern Warfare 3. As a result, Sony was afforded timed exclusivity by the publisher of the game. Many have attributed the success of the PlayStation 4 to the ability of the consoleto attain exclusivesand its competitions struggle to do so. While players may be frustrated at having to wait for titles, it seems that strategic investment in game development is an increasingly important aspect of console marketing.
While PlayStation players have seemed to have enjoyed theModern Warfare 2campaign, there has been some frustration at thelack of online multiplayer. This seems to be the result of Activision wanting players to interact with one another on the reboot ofModern Warfarerather than across multiple games. Despite this, many will hope that the maps from this title appear online once again in the future.
