Crunchryoll Expo, the streaming platform’s annual event, took place over the weekend of August 6. One of the major reveals of the Crunchyroll Expo was the world premiere of the first episode ofMob Psycho 100 III, which will be released on October 5.

The official YouTube channel oftheMob Psycho 100animelater presented the third season’s exciting opening theme, titled “1”, performed by Mob Choir, the band responsible for the first two openings. It appears to follow thematically from the previous openings, “99” and “99.9”. The opening sequence features some of the series' characteristic fluid, colorful and psychedelic visuals, swelling riffs, hard-hitting drums, and inspirational lyrical content.

It was also revealed that the Mob Choir would also be performing the series' ending sequence too, a song titled “Cobalt”. As previously announced, the staff members from the first and second seasons will be making their return for the third season, with director Yuzuru Tachikawa moving up to executive director and the director’s chair being filled by Takahiro Hasui, who worked as an episode director forMob Psycho 100 II.

Mob Psycho 100 followsthe life of Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, an unassuming high school student whose run-of-the-mill appearance hides something incredibly special: he is a tremendously powerful esper. Due to the unpredictability of his powers, Mob has taught himself the art of emotional suppression to keep his ESP in check; however, there is only so much he can take, and once his emotional stress levels reach 100%, something incredible happens. Mob Psycho 100 takes viewers on Mob’s journey towards understanding his own emotions, learning to express himself and dealing with the crazy developments of the world around him.

Mob Psycho 100was created by ONE, the highly-acclaimed author ofOne Punch Man. It was first distributed as a webcomic on the Ura Sunday website from 2012 to 2017, running for 16 volumes. The first season ofMob Psycho 100was released in 2016, with the second season following in 2019.

The third season is set to continue the series' trend of adapting new elements of the story for an anime release every third year since the anime’s inception. The official release date forMob Psycho 100 IIIis set for October 5 and the serieswill be simulcast on Crunchyroll. The developments add to the anticipation of the incredibly-stacked Fall season, which might turn out to be one of the best seasons for anime in a very long time.
