It feels like there are an infinite number of things that players can do within the world ofMinecraft. Even in the base game, fans who are bored can find numerous things to keep themselves entertained withinMinecraft. Of course, there are also plenty of mods and add-ons that have come about since the game was released ten years ago that have simply added so much content that keeps it fresh after a decade. However, a new mod has been uploaded which does something that not many others have been able to.
Ordinarily, when people think ofMinecraft, an image may suggest itself of a vast landscape of possibilities, with its loveable blocky graphics front and center of that image. Many would seldom consider the sandbox juggernaut to be an accurate facsimile of realistic-looking vistas and mountains that, from a distance, could trick a person into thinking they are looking at a photograph. However, that is what user qwryzu has done with their add-onVales of Amoril.

Uploading the mod last week,Vales of Amorilseems to have done the impossible, which is to make the usually low-res world look spectacularly real. The mod is effectively a large continent which introduces a series ofmountains toMinecraft, as well as waterfalls, dense forests, wide plains, rivers, and more, but with a hyper-realistic look to them. The developer said it took them around four months to complete, in which they used a number of tools, such asWorld Machine,World Painter, andChunky, to complete the map.
It looks absolutely incredible, with the images that have been uploaded showing wide-screen shots of the landscapes that, for a moment, can potentially fool someone into forgetting they are looking atMinecraft. There are plenty ofmods forMojang’s game that go a long way to adjust the gameplay mechanics and world, but this could be the first time someone has put a huge amount of effort into trying to make it look less likeMinecraftand more realistic.
While it’s likely that once players get closer to the ground,Vales of Amorilwill probably look like the game that millions know and love, the fact that the screenshots show something that could come from a different game entirely is extremely impressive. With such detail, it’s no wonder it took qwryzu several months to complete it. It remains to be seen how fantastic this map would look through theMinecraftray tracing update.
