WithMetaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino is launching a new IP, which many compare to ahigh-fantasy version ofPersonadue to similarities in aesthetics, combat, and other RPG mechanics. However,Metaphor: ReFantaziohas been showing through its trailers and broadcasts that it has plenty of originality to stand on its own and not just live inPersona’s shadow.
An upcoming dedicated livestream forMetaphor: ReFantaziois set for July 29, directly on YouTube. The stream begins at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET and will introduce both the characters participating in the game’s election and the followers, individuals responsible for the bond-building feature in the game, similar toPersona’s Social Links. The main difference is that whilePersonaallowed for intimate relationships with some NPCs,Metaphor: ReFantaziowon’t feature romancewith any character.
Metaphor: ReFantazio’s Next Livestream Announced
This will be the fourth livestream forMetaphor: ReFantazio. Atlus has been promoting the game for some time, sharing new trailers and explaining its various features. Earlier this month, a livestream dedicated to the game’s story was broadcast, highlighting the presidential race and the promises of its participants. In a June livestream, director Hashino appeared on video to elaborate on theArchetypes system inMetaphor: ReFantazio, which functions as a class system and is a core gameplay element.
This year alone, Atlus releasedPersona 3 ReloadandShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, which both received critical acclaim from critics and the public. The Japanese developer’s strategy of launching new sequels or reviving classic games has proven effective, while fans keeprequesting more Atlus remakes. As a result, since the announcement ofMetaphor: ReFantazio, fans can’t wait to experience a new IP from the developer, especially one directed by Katsura Hashino.
Metaphor: ReFantaziowill be released on July 17, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
