The recently announcedMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1has confirmed a major drawback for players looking to pick up the compilation on PC: no mouse and keyboard controls. Konami would officially announce the newest collection from the beloved stealth action franchise late last month duringSony’s May PlayStation Showcase event. The new compilation was confirmed to contain each title from the game’s original trilogy, alongside the confirmation of a remake ofMetal Gear Solid 3. Now, as fans are learning more about the upcoming collection, a significant feature will not be present in the PC version.While Konami announced the highly-anticipatedMetal Gear Solidcompilation in May, the June Nintendo Direct would not only reveal its arrival to Switch but bonus features for the collection as well. Konami’s segment during the Nintendo broadcast would reveal both of the franchise’s original MSX and NES titles from the late 1980s and early 1990s for the collection. The compilation is also set to include several digital artbooks and graphic novels from the franchise as well. While erroneous early listings hinted the game would only support controllers, many fans had hoped the subsequent removal would address the issue. However, the recent re-listing of the games would officially confirm the threeMetal Gear Solidgames lack keyboard-and-mouse control schemes. While each game originated as a console game on the PS2, the lack of keyboard-and-mouse controls with the remasters have led many fans to call into question the quality of the new versions.
While theMetal Gear Solidcompilation is sure to excite many fans of the franchise, others have levied criticisms against the contents of the collection. The compilation will notably not include two of the franchise’sless accessible games inMetal Gear Solid 4andMetal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Neither game has been made available on modern platforms.
The reveal of the newestMetal Gear Solidcompilation and theMetal Gear Solid 3remake comes after the franchise had fallen mostly dormant.
