Adding yet again to the seemingly never ending amount of mods being created by theMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredcommunity, modders have now added a suit from the scrapped fan-made filmSpider-Man: Lotus.Marvel’s Spider-Manhas been a paradise playground for the modding community since its release on PC back in August, and the creativity from the fans is consistently being expressed with all kinds of new mods. This mod, though, seems to be especially turning heads for both the high quality work presented and the controversy that surrounded the fan-made film.
Mods are often sought after in PC releases to keep the games fresh long past when the credits roll. WithMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredin particular, though, the amount of new skins and ways to experience the game is astronomical. From being able toplay as Tobey Maguire’s “pizza time” outfit from theSpider-Man 2film, to being able to swing around the city as other Marvel icons such as Daredevil and Wolverine, mods are keeping the game’s community excited for what’s in store for this formerly PlaySation-exclusive title. But while playing as an actor from an officially released movie is one thing, creating a mod from a scrapped fan-made film is another. Still, the mod is sure to excite most fans.

The new mod was created and uploaded to Nexus Mods by user LDS3D and brought to light in a Reddit post by user 2giga2dweebish. Allegedly, the mod was created by the costume designer of the scrappedSpider-Man: Lotus, according to the mod’s description.Spider-Man: Lotuswas going to focus on the story of Peter Parker dealing with the death of Gwen Stacey after the events ofNo Way HomeandThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. Fans have also made it possible toplay as Spider-Gwen inMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredas well, so a new mod featuring the Spidey design from the fan film almost seemed inevitable.
The mod replaces the original “classic” suit from the game with thisLotusdesign. While the mod is impressive, it seems to be stirring up more conversation regarding the controversy of the fanfilm. Both director Gavin J. Konop and actor Warren Wayne were set to helm this indie fan project until accusations of past homophobia and racism from both men seemed to shelve the project. Still, this new mod continues to add more life and passion into a well-received game. While it gives a more realistic look at Spidey, there are other mods that dial up his comic book origins, such a mod that allows users toplay as Ultimate Spider-Manfrom the game of the same name.
Mods seem to be endless forMarvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. From serious mods like this one, to hilarious ones like being able toplay as Kermit the Frog,Spider-Manseems to be the game that keeps on giving. Hopefully, more PlayStation-exclusive titles will eventually make their way to PC.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredis available for PC and PS5.
