With all the non-stop blockbuster film and TV projects that seem to hit the big screen, it can be easy to feel like Marvel has run out of surprises. A quick look at the comics will reveal that they’ve barely scratched the surface of the weird stuff. Take Mojoworld, an alternate dimension populated by monstrous blobs who are obsessed with making movies.
The plot ofthe upcomingDeadpool 3has been kept tightly under wraps, but many fans have suggested that Mojoworld might play a part. Deadpool doesn’t have much connection to Mojo in the comics, but the X-Men certainly do. The presence of total nobody Shatterstar suggests that the alternative reality may pop up.

What Is Mojoworld?
Mojoworld, which is either contained in or also known as the Mojoverse, is the domain of the disgusting supervillain Mojo. Mojo is a Spineless One, a massive immobile blob person who must rely on a set of robotic legs to get around. He rules Mojoworld with an iron fist, and his main interest as a dictator is staging violent spectacles for himself and his subjects. He’s a supervillain that arose as a clear parody of television networkand film studio executives. He’s cruel and demanding, but he’s also focused primarily on entertainment. His reality is media-centric, making him a monster who’ll do anything to boost his ratings.
The Spineless Ones are all insane as a result of absorbing distorted radio and TV waves from Earth, which caused them to see humanoid figures as demons. As a result, Mojo began genetically developing in-house slaves to serve as stunt performers in his nightmarish films. His first appearance was as the primary antagonist for Longshot, the most famous of his creations. Mojo pops up as a broader supervillain becausehe keeps dragging mutantsinto his gladiatorial combat shows. He’s kidnaped Jubilee, Psylocke, and Rachel Summers, among others. He also creates genetic clones of the X-Men, like their infant counterparts the X-Babies. If Mojo ever makes it to Earth, he’s a massive threat. Mojo emits an anti-life field that seems to fundamentally clash with the atmosphere. His presence kills whatever organic matter happens to be nearby and causes natural disasters.
Ironically, for a character obsessed with film and TV, he’s barely ever appeared on the screen. He pops up in a few of the cartoons, usually for only one or two episodes. He’s an antagonist in the 1992X-Menanimated series and the 2009Wolverine and the X-Mencartoon. He appears with a holographic human disguise inthe 2012 seriesAvengers Assemble. He’s been a boss fight in a couple ofX-Menvideo games, and he’s a card inMarvel Snap, but that’s about it. Frankly, the first time many fans heard about Mojo was in a minor line inDeadpool 2.
How could Mojoworld play intoDeadpool 3?
One of the most interesting scenes inDeadpool 2comes around the mid-point of the narrative and winds up having nothing to do with the story. It’s almost a bait-and-switch, partially mocking those who got excited about elements in the trailer. AfterDeadpool sets his mindtoward helping young mutant Russell, he decides he’ll need to get a team together. He and Weasel interview a small squadron of superpeople for his new team, the X-Force. One of the applicants is Shatterstar, who explains that he’s an alien with enhanced abilities. In the comics, Shatterstar is a former denizen of Mojoworld, another genetically crafted slave designed to be a gladiator, and a founding member of X-Force. The film mentions Mojoworld exactly once before Shatterstar dies, but it could come back.
The only guarantee aboutDeadpool 3is that he’ll finally connect with his longtime soulmate Wolverine. After several gags aboutDeadpool being kept separatefrom the larger X-Men universe, he’ll be teaming up with their flagship character. The Deadpool films have been fairly grounded so far, dealing with street-level threats and personal motivations. However, Mojo’s obsession with on-screen violence could be a perfect match with the only R-Rated franchise in Disney’s catalog. Deadpool is the perfect vector to mock the larger MCU, so taking the story to an alternate universe could be a great setup. Perhaps most notably, Lewis Tan, the actor behind Shatterstar has lightly implied that hemight be returning to the franchise.
Deadpool 3could take any number of new directions, but Mojoworld is an established part of its universe and a great new concept for the franchise. Mojo is one of the most underrated villains in X-Men history, but he was always made for the film industry. Disney might have some trouble green-lighting a nakedly obvious takedown of film industry execs, but they’ve been prettyopen to self-parody lately. Someone has to put this disgusting blob on the big screen, and Deadpool is the perfect man for the job.
