Square Enixis one of the premiere video game developers and publishers in the entire world, having been responsible for some of the most popular and critically-acclaimed video games ever released.Square Enixreleases numerous video games every year, ranging from original IPs to new entries in its popular and established franchises likeFinal Fantasy. Square Enix has numerous games confirmed for release in 2022, and it’s looking like March 2022 is going to be an especially busy time for fans of the company’s work.
At the time of this writing, there are fourSquare Enix-published gamesscheduled to release throughout March 2022. Now, it’s entirely possible that the release dates for some of these games will get pushed back, but for now, they are all on track to drop in March. It’s abnormal for a single publisher to have four games releasing in just one month, and one has to wonder which games will be hits and which ones will fail to resonate with fans.

New Square Enix Games March 2022
The first Square Enix offering dropping March 2022 is an action-RPG from acclaimed developer PlatinumGames calledBabylon’s Fall.Babylon’s Fallclosed beta tests have provided Platinum with information that it’s using to improve the game before its proper launch, with Square Enix sharing alist ofBabylon’s Fallchangesthat are being made based on player feedback. Platinum’s track record speaks for itself, so it will be interesting to see howBabylon’s Fallturns out come its March 3 release date on PC, PS4, and PS5.
Just a day later on March 4, Square Enix fans have another game to look forward to, with this one developed as a collaboration between Artdink and Square Enix.Triangle Strategyis a Nintendo Switch exclusive gamebeing led by Tomoya Asano, who also worked on games likeBravely DefaultandOctopath Traveler, the latter of which shares many visual similarities withTriangle Strategy. A tactical RPG that appears similar to games likeFinal Fantasy Tactics,Triangle Strategyis poised to be one of the first big strategy game releases of 2022, and one of the first major Switch exclusive games releasing in the new year as well.
Square Enix is primarily known for RPGs likeTriangle StrategyandBabylon’s Fall, but sometimes it steps outside of its comfort zone to tackle other genres instead. That’s exactly what it’s doing withChocobo GPon March 10. Developed solely by Square Enix and releasing as a Nintendo Switch exclusive likeTriangle Strategy,Chocobo GPwil have a paid versionas well as a free to play version for fans to check out.
For those unfamiliar withChocobo GP, it’s a spin-off of theFinal Fantasyfranchise that trades the series' signature RPG gameplay for kart racing not unlike Nintendo’s popularMario Kartgames. But instead of characters fromSuper Mario,Chocobo GPlets players play as a variety ofcharacters from the main seriesFInal Fantasygames.Chocobo GPis quite a bit different than most of the games in theFinal Fantasyseries, but it should still have its fans.
Final Fantasyfans who want something a bit more serious thanChocobo GPalso have something to look forward to in March. March 28 will see the launch of theTeam Ninja-developedStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originon PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originis a companion piece to the very firstFinal Fantasygame, offering an action-RPG style of gameplay that has drawn comparisons to theDark Soulsfranchise.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originis looking to tell a dark fantasy storywhile delivering hard-hitting combat. Many fans have come away from the game’s demo impressed by the combat especially, but it remains to be seen how the complete package will turn out.
While most of Square Enix’s new releases in the first quarter of 2022 are focused on March, these aren’t the only games that fans have to look forward to within the next few months. Square Enix is set to release theLife is Strange Remastered Collectionon February 1 across numerous platforms, and those in Japan can also look forward to thelaunch ofDragon Quest 10 Offline, which is, as its name implies, an offline version of the popular MMORPG. There’s no word yet on ifDragon Quest 10 Offlinewill make its way to other regions, but here’s hopingDragon Questfans outside of Japan can finally play the game soon.
