Developer Kojima Productions has hired former Konami marketing boss Jay Boor. It’s unclear what Boor and the Kojima Productions team will be promoting next after thehuge success of its first game,Death Stranding.
On Twitter,Kojima Productionsconfirmed that Jay Boor is its new global head of marketing and communications. Boor had spent a year as the director of communications for Europe at Riot Games before joining theDeath Strandingdeveloper. Before that, though, Boor spent 11 years atMetal Gear Soliddeveloper Konami as the director of communications and customer services for Europe, director of communications for North America, and as a senior public relations manager. Boor’s LinkedIn also confirms PR roles at Sega, 2K, and Codemasters.

Boor is one of several former Konami employees to have joined Hideo Kojima at Kojima Productions. TheDeath Strandingdevelopment teamincludes a former senior character artist, a cinematic artist, and a senior character designer which had all worked at Konami before that. Kojima and Konami may have fallen out in a major way, so much so that Kojima was once banned from attending The Game Awards, but the developer knows that Konami’s employees are good at what they do.
The next big release from Kojima Productions is thePC version ofDeath Stranding. In response to the tweet about Boor joining Kojima Productions, fans also ask the company to confirm the game’s PC release date. The PC version of the game is being published by 505 Games and not Sony, which published the PS4 version. It may not be up to Kojima Productions to reveal the release date but that isn’t stopping some from trying.
Boor may also have a difficult job trying to stop Kojima from tweeting out confusingDeath Strandingvideos. Kojimaconfused many fans by posting aDeath Strandingvideothat looked like the Academy Award-nominated war movie1917. The video teased something big for the game in 2020 but it was unclear if Kojima meant the PC version of the game orDeath StrandingDLC. This is the sort of thing that the head of marketing and communications could explain.
After this, it’s not known what Boor will be trying to promote. Kojima has suggested that he coulddevelop a horror gameand another game in the strand game genre is also possible. Fans would be excited by any kind of announcement and will hope that Boor will be able to use those many years in marketing to promote a new game soon.
Death Strandingis out now on PlayStation 4 and is set to release on PC later this year.
