With 2022 marking the 30th anniversary of theKirbyseries, both HAL Laboratory and Nintendo seemed to have wasted no time in preparing to celebrate the milestone.Nintendo confirmed thatKirby’s 30th anniversary celebrationwill indeed happen this year, and then pushed through by launchingKirby and the Forgotten Landas well as announcing various activities and products for the occasion. Now, another merchandise collection has been unveiled which includes a variety of items such as a dancingKirbyalarm clock.
Nintendo has slowly been rolling out newKirbyitems for the anniversary since the start of the year. This includes a giant 30th anniversarytoy plush,customizableKirbynecklaces or jewelry, and even useful day-to-day items based on in-game designs found inKirby and the Forgotten Land. The exclusiveKirbycafe in Japan has been rebranded to reflect the look and feel of the game, and a concert featuring soundtracks from the franchise has also been scheduled for August 2022.

To further excite fans about the series' anniversary events, a new collection ofKirbymerchandise has been announced. According to Japanese brand Bandai’s official site, “Kirby’s 30th Anniversary Deluxe Collection” will be part of their Ichiban Kuji system. The Ichiban Kuji is a lottery system, where fans need to pay for a ticket to draw one of the prizes in the collection. In total, there are 21 different pieces in the product range. This includes the dancing alarm clock which is the top prize in the collection. Other items includecuteKirbyplush toys, keychains, face towels, a 3D calendar, glasses, and more.
The price for each Ichiban Kuji ticket is at 650 yen or around $5.00 USD. The lottery machines will be available across Lawson convenience stores, and the Ichiban Lottery online store. Fans who are in Japan can check these official channels once they become available starting May 21, 2025. Even though most of the 30th anniversary activities of the series seem to only center around Japan, other fans should not fret. Nintendo has confirmed that there will still be moreKirby30th anniversary events and activities.
Given thatKirbyhas a massive following around the world, and is such a well-loved character by the gaming community, fans are likely wishing that some of the upcoming official Kirby celebrations will take place on a more global scale. Hopefully Nintendo and Hal Laboratory will consider their global fans, as they will probably appreciate being considered to take part in all of the excitingKirby30th anniversary festivities.
