One of the most surprising announcements of this year would have to be the reboot ofKao the Kangaroo. This game comes from Tate Multimedia, and it focuses on giving a nostalgic platforming experience much in the style of its older releases. While this series is a much more niche title in comparison to others,Kao the Kangaroois set to release on May 27thon a variety of consoles including the Switch.
To build up hype for this underrated platformer’s return, Tate Multimedia has been releasing a variety of videos promotingKao the Kangaroo. This includes trailers showing off the levels that players will find in the game, along withthe allies that Kao will encounter on his journey. The most recent trailer forKao the Kangaroofocused on its combat, where it showcased the many enemies that players will square up against, such as giant apes wielding hammers and flying mutants. Those who are interested in a physical copy may be excited to hear about the game’s Limited Edition.

The official Twitter reveals that theKao the Kangaroorebootwill be receiving a special Limited Edition via French publisher Just For Games, who announced this “Kaollector” edition will be available to pre-order on its official website. This edition will release later than the digital version of the game, targeted for Q4 2022. This physical release will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One.
Alongside the disc or cartridge of the game, this edition will contain a bunch of goodies for fans to enjoy. This includes a bobble-head figure of Kao himself, a bouncy ball that is described to be “massive,” a 52-page hardcover artbook that coverstheKao the Kangarooseries, and even a certificate of authenticity that is signed by Tate Multimedia. This will all be bundled in a big premium box with an exclusive design. Just For Games' physical release will be limited to only 5000 units worldwide.
Limited Run Games has a similar Collector’s Edition available forKao the Kangaroo, albeit with a different set of goodies. This includes a poster, soundtrack CD, sticker sheet, and an acrylic standee of Kao. Limited Run Games' version will also only be available for Switch, PS4, and PS5 formats as well. Pre-orders of Just For Games' Collector’s Edition will be open at an unspecified date, while Limited Run’s pre-orders will open on May 24.
