See’s initial description almost reads like alive-actionSamurai Jackwith a few less robots and dog people and a little more post-apocalyptic society-on-the-edge thrown in for good measure. Momoa, as Baba Voss, strides the landscape trying to save a future that his people haven’t even known was possible, with even the idea of mentioning seeing being taboo within the strictures. The first season saw Baba Voss having to defend against Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) and her army led by her Witchfinder, Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo), hunted down anyone who claimed to have been sighted—putting the children with vision in peril.
The second season found Baba Voss going up against his own younger brother (and head of the Trivantian army), Edo Voss (played by Dave Bautista), in a battle for the fate of their world. Season three picks up almost a year after Baba Voss put down his brother and left his family behind to commune in the forest. Things are shaken up when a Trivantian scientist creates a new form of sighted weapons that threaten the world once again, forcing Baba to protect his tribe in his homeland of Paya once again.
The series won theRuderman Family Foundation Seal of Authentic Representationin 2020 for having a cast in which several members were either blind or heavily visually impaired, lending a deep sense of authenticity to the world of the show. Jonathan Tropper, showrunner and executive producer of the series posted, “The journey, as always, is really about the people you come to know and love along the way,” on his Instagram last November.
Seeairs its final season beginning August 26th, 2022 on Apple TV Plus.
