SinceGod of Warcame to PC, the modding community has been hard at work making memorable adjustments to the critically acclaimed title. A recent trend has seenGod of Warcharacter model swaps becoming popular, andThe Last of Usfranchise is the latest property to be brought into Santa Monica’s Norse world.
Other mods have created some memorable scenarios, such asHalo’s Master Chief battling Kratos. An extension of this mod pit the Doom Slayer againstHalo’s beloved Spartan, while a more unexpected mod paid tribute toPirates of the Caribbean. While few fans could have expected to seeDavy Jones battling Jack Sparrowwhen the PC version ofGod of Warwas announced, this odd crossover does a fine job of showing that anything is possible through mods.

The Last of Usis a particularly good choice for aGod of Warmod, though, as a bond between parent and child can be found at the heart of both narratives. Joel is a great stand-in for Kratos, while Ellie suits Atreus fine enough. Though the mod sounds great on paper, it looks even better in action, with YouTuber Omega Fantasy showcasing part ofGod of Warafter itsThe Last of Usmakeover. According to the content creator, this video would not have been possible without theGod of Warmodders known as HitmanHimself, Marcos RC, Jordan, and Darknessvaltier.
The video opens with Joel chopping a tree like Kratos, though instead of using theLeviathan Axe, he wields an upgraded pipe - showing just how much effort went into making this mod as accurate as possible. Ellie appears shortly after, wearing her signature red shirt and backpack from the original game. While it is odd to hear Joel’s character model speaking with Christopher Judge’s voice instead of Troy Baker’s, the footage is interesting, especially when the Stranger arrives.
Instead ofGod of War’s Baldur, Joel faces down with the always creepy David. Considering what David puts Ellie through in the first game, and the fact that Joel was not there to kill him for her, it is satisfying to see him get his revenge. While both move like superhuman gods instead of regular people during their clash, the encounter eventually ends with Joel snapping David’s neck like Kratos does to Baldur. With other great touches in the video, like music fromThe Last of Ussoundtrack and Clickers replacing Draugr, there is plenty to appreciate.
WithGod of War: Ragnarokstill planned for 2022, andThe Last of Us Part 1just a few months away, both franchises have exciting content in the works. For those that want to see what a combination of the two series would look like, this video from Omega Fantasy is worth a watch.
God of Waris available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
