Red Dead Redemptionhas been re-released on PS4, with PS5 backward compatibility, and on the Nintendo Switch. Fans who primarily play on Xbox consoles can still buy the Xbox 360 backward compatible version. While there has been somebacklash over the lack of a PC release, players looking to replay John Marston’s journey through New Austin can finally do so on the console of their choice.
Returning and first-time players may be surprised by John Marston brandishing shiny golden weaponry at the start of the game. Some fans dislike this as it doesn’t fit with the immersive story mode. However, players have the option to toggle these weapons off and on depending on which version ofRed Dead Redemptionthey are playing.

The original pre-order bonus makes John Marston’sCattleman Revolver and Repeater Carbinegolden. These weapons don’t have any differences in damage but do increase the amount of fame gained while using them.
Rockstar eventually unlocked these weapons to all players so anyone playing an older version of the game will start out with these guns. Players need to input a code to turn them off. Take note that these codes do not disable achievements like other cheats and need to be applied every time the game is re-loaded as they are not saved.
