Horizon Forbidden Westis full of a wide variety of unique powerful weapons, from Hunter Bows such as Tears of the Land God and Death Seekers Shadow to Spike Throwers like Defiance and Last Argument. There’s evena special weapon called the Specter Gauntletwhich is only available in TheBurning Shoresexpansion.

Aloy’s preferred weapons are ranged weapons such as Bows, and she collects many of these ranged weapons throughout her journey inHorizon Forbidden West. With so many different classes of ranged weapons, players are spoiled for choice. However, some classes are great and beneficial in combat and others not so much.

S Tier

Hunter Bow:This mid-ranged bow allows Aloy to fire quickly at enemies and is very agile, as well as having different variations with different types of elemental ammo. Although each bow varies in draw speed, with some being very slow, the variety of elements these bows can use makes it a powerful bow.Hunter Bows are considered the best weapon classin the game.

Spike Thrower: Best used in mid to short-ranged combat, theseSpike Throwersare incredibly powerful and can deal an incredible amount of damage to enemies. When a spike attaches to an enemy, it will deal damage for a few seconds before exploding. These few seconds are perfect for Aloy to get out her bow and fire some arrows for extra damage.

A Tier

Warrior Bow: This quick and agile bow will allowHorizon Forbidden West’s Aloyto fight with speed against her enemies. Unfortunately, the arrows of these bows don’t deal as much damage compared to Hunter Bows, but they make up with their agile and quick arrow draws and reload speed, as well as their elemental damage.

Blastsling: These formidable weapons allow Aloy to launch grenades and explosives of varying elemental damage at her foes. Another great feature that some Blastslings have is the ability to launch a volley of explosive grenades called Cluster Bombs. The weapons are great for slowing down enemies or covering them with the element that they’re weakest to.

Boltblaster:This weapon is very heavy and bulky and slows Aloy down considerably, but it makes up for its low speed and heavy size with a devastating barrage of bullets, and it’s great at exploiting opponents’ armor. It’s also considered the nemesis of machines like theGrimhorn.

B Tier

Sharpshot Bow:This ranged weapon class is primarily used as a sniper bow. It is slow yet packs a punch. Due to its slow draw, it is not an ideal bow to have in a fast-paced fight and is best used from a long distance. One of the main drawbacks is the limited ammo that the Sharpshot Bow has.

Tripcaster:Laying tripwires on the battleground for foes can be a fun activity, butthe Tripcaster doesn’t do much damagecompared to other ranged weapon classes. Aloy must lure her opponents into the trap for it to have any effect.

C Tier

Shredder Gauntlet:This weapon class causes tear damage to opponents and has a boomerang effect where the ammo will return to Aloy until it explodes on the enemy. TheShredder Gauntletmay sound like a powerful weapon, and it is, but unfortunately it is a tricky weapon to use and is not as straightforward as the rest of the ranged weapon classes.

Ropecaster:There are two varieties of Ropecaster: Canister Ropecaster and Ropecaster. The Canister Ropecaster fires an attachable canister that deals damage when blown up, but Aloy must fire an arrow from her bow of the same elemental type for the canister to blow up. The standard Ropecaster ties two enemies together, which makes it one of the least useful weaponsinHorizon Forbidden West.
