Best Light Cone
Back to All Characters
Dan Heng is a member of the Astral Express and, consequently, one of the first characters players encounter in their journey throughHonkai: Star Rail. He is given freely to players to help them overcome the challenges of early gameplay. However, his utility and usefulness go beyond being a character for early-game support.

While some players may find him more challenging to play compared to other Hunt characters due to his reliance on team utility and additional damage potential, if players can find the right balance, he can excel as a main DPS or sub-DPS in a wide range of content. Fortunately, players have access to a variety of light cones, both free-to-play and otherwise, inHonkai: Star Rail.
5Swordplay
Dan Heng doesn’t typically have a strong preference for consistently focusing on the same target or not. However, in general, it benefits him to concentrate on the same target, particularly a boss. This is because he can reduce the target enemy’s speed, which ultimately enhances his DPS output. By attacking slowed targets, he can deal more damage due to his kit. While Swordplay may not be useful in every type of battle, it overall helps Dan Heng increase his damage output the more he keeps attacking the same target. This is especially advantageous in boss battles rather than prolonged waves of enemies, especially if a weaker enemy lacks a taunt ability or another gameplay mechanic that necessitates attacking a different target.
4Only Silence Remains

Showcasing Dan Heng in its artwork, Only Silence Remains can be considered the more suitable 4-star gacha light cone option, although its effectiveness depends on the battle itself. Generally, Only Silence Remains won’t reach its full potential when there are more than 2 enemies on the field. This is because Dan Heng won’t be able to benefit greatly from the light cone’s secondary effect, which increases his Crit Rate. However, Only Silence Remains does offer an unconditional additional ATK%, which can be beneficial in any content. Therefore, while Dan Heng can still benefit from this light cone, players should prioritize reducing the enemy count first to fully exploit its benefits. To achieve this, players may want to consider characters with AoE DPS capabilities, such as Welt, who can also slow targets, or Asta, who can target Dan Heng while casting her Ultimate. Regardless, attaining the light cone’s secondary effect can still be challenging against enemies that consistently summon additional enemies, like Cocolia.
3Sleep Like the Dead
Sleep like the Dead is a 5-star option that enables more consistent critical hits and increases Dan Heng’s Crit DMG. Players who have been fortunate enough to obtain thislight cone from the gachacan significantly enhance Dan Heng’s DPS potential. However, it is not advisable for players to specifically redeem this light cone from the shop using 600 Undying Starlight, as there are better options available for other paths. The 4-star gacha options or even Cruising in the Stellar Sea, especially when maximally superimposed, can perform similarly effectively while conserving valuable resources.
2Cruising in the Stellar Sea

Being a 5-star free-to-play option, Cruising in the Stellar Sea presents an excellent opportunity for players who want to challenge themselves by utilizingonly free-to-play optionsduring their gameplay. This light cone can be obtained by completing Simulated Universe worlds and earning the weekly rewards, allowing players toeasily acquire it from Herta’s Storeand maximize its level within a few weeks. With Cruising in the Stellar Sea, players can benefit from its high Crit rate, especially when the target’s HP is below 50%. Interestingly, Dan Heng’s first eidolon grants him an additional Crit rate if the targets' HP is above 50%, allowing him to consistently maintain a high Crit rate without needing to prioritize it as much on his relics. The light cone’s final effect can also be useful in content featuring weak enemies, as it helps Dan Heng deal more damage in subsequent turns.
1In The Night
In The Night is a limited-time event light cone that is particularly thesignature light cone for Seele, but it also works exceptionally well for Dan Heng due to his high DMG multipliers and low energy cost for his Ultimate. This enables him to take full advantage of the additional effect provided by the light cone. Moreover, In The Night greatly benefits from focusing on the Speed stat while providing additional Crit Rate, which can potentially make Dan Heng extremely fast and allow him to attack multiple times in the same turn, particularly considering his ability to slow enemies. Therefore, In The Night synergizes effectively with Dan Heng.
