Hideo Kojima is probably one of the most famous names in video game production, bringing his love of film and music into his own work. While he doesn’t often speak about the games that he’s into,Kojima did recently give praise to the indie adventure title12 Minutes, comparing it to his love of 2016’sINSIDEand saying that he, himself, lost track of time while playing it. The director is also not one to shy away from the things that concern him, either, as is evident in a recent post.

TheMetal Gear Solidcreator took to Twitter earlier today, uploading an image from a DVD box cover that showed a film whose English-translated title readsThe Adventures of Pinocchio. Kojima waxed lyrical about it, asking whether this could be the samePinocchioadaptation that he remembers that he says he was “somewhat traumatized” by when he saw it on TV as a kid. He seems uncertain whether this is the same as the one he saw on NHK, Japan’s public media organization, back in 1974 when he would have been around 11 or 12.

He then went on to say that Matteo Garrone’s new filmPinocchiohas a “similar tone.” One person replying to his tweets says that it could well be a miniseries he’s referring to, which was first aired in Italy in 1972. The Japanese developer is not one to shy away from his true feelings on social media. Recently,Kojima celebrated his 58th birthday in which he said he would continue creating, until his brain “lost its creative powers.”

This seems evident by the fact that he is still continuing to work on new games.Kojima has also spoken about a game that changes in real time, specifically, he says an example of this could be where the game changes depending on where someone lives. He used the 2003 titleBoktai, which he helped to develop, as a rudimentary example. In that game, players could kill vampires using the light sensor on their Game Boy Advance, which would encourage people to play the game outdoors in the sun.

Whatever ideas Hideo Kojima has, they are always interesting, often pushing the boundaries of video game narrative. Withthe director currently in talks over an Xbox exclusive game, it seems as though he still has plenty of ideas up his sleeve, but still finds time to post about his childhood nightmares on Twitter.
