Halo Infiniteis one of the most-anticipated and discussed games this year. An update on Halo Waypoint yesterday confirmed thatHalo Infinite’s release date was pushed back to fall 2021. While this may have upset a number of antsy fans, it gives the developers significantly more time to iron out the game and polish it into the product many are hoping it will be. The Halo Waypoint update confirmed there will not be any sort of loot boxes ormicrotransactionsinHalo Infinite. Essentially all of the in-game rewards are cosmetic-based and do not rely on random chance. What is also important to note is that none of the rewards offer any kind of advantage to players in terms of gameplay, and therefore the gameplay dynamics will be built entirely around each user’s skill.
For many fans, this is assuring to hear. With microtransactions becoming more rampant and present within a number of different games, especiallyEA games, it’s nice to know thatHalo Infinitewill be able to focus more on what the game has to offer on its own rather than having to rely on loot boxes and microtransactions as a way of incentivizing players to keep playing.
With the amount of timesHalo Infinitehas been delayed, it’s starting to resembleCyberpunk 2077. Given all of the negative impacts that COVID-19 has had on the gaming industry, it isn’t an unwarranted delay, but considering the game was supposed to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X/S, it’s understandable why some fans are restless.
Despite this, there’s still a lot to look forward to in terms ofHalo Infinite. The first look at one ofHalo Infinite’s multiplayer mapsleft a strong impression on a number of fans, and there’s plenty of exciting details that have yet to be unveiled. Hopefully, more tangible demonstrations of the game’s potential, such as gameplay footage, is close to being shown off.
