While theHaloseries is iconic for many reasons, one aspect of the games that many people love is vehicle gameplay. From theclassic Warthog to the massive Wraith, the transports in the franchise help add excitement to battles featured in the games. However, some believe that the series' most recent installment,Halo Infinite, is underselling its vehicles in one significant way.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as Jetsflighter pointed out a problem thatHalo Infinitehad with explosions. According to the Reddit user, the explosions seen in the first-person shooter for the destruction of vehicles were, for the most part, too small. To illustrate this point, they shared a clip that showed two explosions from the game.

The first explosion was of a Phantom after it was shot out of the sky by aUNSC Scorpion tank, while the second one was of the Master Chief taking down the Adjatunt Resolution, a boss fight in the game. Interestingly, the explosions from the Adjatunt Resolution battle looked much more impressive than those for the massive Banished transport vessel. This caused Jetsflighter to ask the question: “Dear 343, can we get vehicle explosions like this, please?”
Since posting this video on Reddit, manyHalofans were quick to weigh in with their opinions on the matter. With over 6.1K upvotes in only a day, many agreed with Jetsflighter. Among the comments, many thought that the explosions of the Banished Phantom seen in the Reddit clip needed to be significantly larger. “Poof,” covert_ops_47 joked. In fact, a number of gamers believed that the destruction of Phantoms looked better inHalo 3than inHalo Infinite. “Some how we have regressed??” MalyMongoose said on Reddit.
While the size of explosions might not be as critical to the gameplay experience as some other factors, it nonetheless impacts the immersions that players feel when jumping into the game.Halo Infiniteis a first-person shooter full of action. With this in mind, explosions play an obvious part in selling the look and feel of the combat, and their underwhelming size is understandably disappointing for some fans.
It will be interesting to see if the developers listen to fan feedback and decide to change the size and intensity of explosions inHalo Infinite. With the release ofSeason 2 called Lone Wolvesabout a month away, that appears to be the next best chance to see an improvement in this area. However, it should be noted that the developers are still working to fix other areas of the game. For example, connectivity problems such as desync continue to be a problem for many players. As a result, changes to explosions might not be a high priority for the developers at this point.
Halo Infiniteis available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
