MINOR SPOILERS REGARDING THOR AHEADGod of War Ragnarokis nominated for ten awards at The Game Awards, and this is for many reasons, including the game’s attention to detail from the moment fans boot it up. The game gets the ball rolling and never stops it, pitting Kratos up against Thor in the opening hours of the game. This initialThor boss battleis incredible in numerous ways, but there’s one thing fans may not notice.
The fight goes in a number of directions, including seeing Thor “kill” Kratos and revive him with Mjolnir. There are a couple of fields of battle, massive frozen lightning, and more, and this may distract players from the fact Thor loses a tooth inGod of War Ragnarok.

The thing is, many players would never think to look for the tooth, and many games would never even include the tooth. As pointed out by Twitter user GermanStrands,God of War Ragnarokis not “many games” because players can find the tooth in the spot where Thor spit it out. It’s a little grotesque, but it’s there, and some other users said it’s there throughout the entire game. Players can see it withoutGod of War Ragnarok’s photo mode, it seems, but it definitely helps gives players a better look at it.
This even drew the attention ofGod of War Ragnarok’s Kratos actor Christopher Judge, who was not aware of this himself despite being “there” for the scene. It’s small discoveries like this, with such attention to detail, that keep games in conversations for years. After all,God of War Ragnarokis a month old, and there are likely many fans who haven’t realized this. It’s likely even more is eventually discovered.
Of course, this is only one example of attention to detail inGod of War Ragnarok, even regarding Thor. Players may recall that Thor pours two cups of mead at the start of the game, one for himself and one for Kratos, with the latter being wary of the drink. It would be presumed, on a first playthrough, that there was something misleading, manipulating, and/or nefarious about this mead, especially because Thor only smells it but doesn’t drink it. He instead offers it to Atreus, making it even more suspect. However, this done is becauseThor is a recovering alcoholic inGod of War Ragnarok, and it serves as a nice bit of foreshadowing of his eventual relapse.
God of War Ragnarokis available now on PS4 and PS5.
