Genshin Impacthas confirmed players will be receiving 100 free Primogems as compensation for a previously confirmed hotfix for the game’s newest character. For players of HoYoverse’s popular RPG,Primogems are one of the most valuable resourcesin the game, used as the main currency for the gacha system. HoYoverse often features plenty of free out-of-game ways for player to earn Primogems between web events, redeemable codes, and free rewards for update maintenance. Now, players will see a few extra Primogems in their in-game mail, thanks to a recent fix.
Last week saw the debut ofGenshin Impact’s newest character, the four-star character Mika, as a new Cryo Polearm user from Mondstadt. Mika brings a supportive playstyle focused around buffing Physical Damage-focused characters, providing increased damage and healing on Normal Attacks. However, Mika’s release would quickly see HoYoverse look to address an erroneous value in his kit, announcing a hotfix to increase the Stamina cost for his Charged Attack just days after his launch. Now, with the change rolling out today, players are receiving compensatory in-game currency.

An update to HoYoverse’s “Known Issues & Updates” thread for Version 3.5 in the HoYoLAB forums officially reveals the compensation for the Mika changes. Starting today, players will be able to claim 100 free Primogems through their mailbox after logging intoGenshin Impact. Players will need to act quickly in order to claim the reward, though, as the mail compensation will only be available until Sunday, April 2nd. The mid-patch update will see theStamina cost for Mika’s Charged Attackincreased to 25 from its initial value of 20.
Mika’s minor changes come as Version 3.5’s other new character has seen significant criticism fromGenshin Impact’s fanbase. The game’s newest five-star character, Dehya, has been the subject of heated criticism from fans over her weak release state and a litany of bugs with her kit. Many fans have claimed HoYoverse may have intentionally kept her power level low compared to other limited units, due to her impending introduction to the Standard banner following Version 3.5. The complaints have become so prevalent that HoYoverse is eventaking special feedback about Dehya.
The release of Mika came alongside a pair of popular characters returning toGenshin Impact’s limited banner, with one in particular being a long time coming. The second half of Version 3.5 saw re-run banners for a pair ofpowerful Cryo characters in Ayaka and Shenhe, with Ayaka often considered one of the game’s best DPS units. Shenhe had seen a long gap since her last banner, not appearing inGenshin Impact’s limited rotation since her debut in Version 2.4. While Mika’s small fix likely won’t impact his gameplay much, fans will surely appreciate a few extra Primogems.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
