AGenshin Impactfan has a creative idea for reworking the game’s Geo element, shifting the element away from its current defensive playstyle into a more proactive crowd-control position. The Elemental Reaction systemserves as the core mechanic of the combat for HoYoVerse’s massively popular RPG with different elements interacting with one another for powerful effects. Some reactions like Vaporize and Melt feature heavy single-target damage while others like Electro-Charged and Bloom focus on AoE attacks. Now, one fan has an idea to rework one of the game’s most forgotten elements.

While Geo was one of the elements introduced during the launch ofGenshin Impact, many fans feel the earth-based element has been left by the wayside by HoYoVerse.Genshin Impacthas not added a new Geo character in almost a year, with Yun Jin being the last to launch, while the last Geo five-star came all the way back in Version 2.3. Many fans have also criticized Geo for its lackluster reactions, only featuring the shield-creating Crystallize reaction with four elements. Now, aGenshin Impactfan is proposing a rework that shifts Geo into a CC-reacting element.

Reddit user conspiracie proposed the overhaul to the Geo element on theGenshin Impactsubreddit, detailing new reactions for each element. The new Geo element would feature reactions with each ofGenshin Impact’s other pre-existing elements focused on crowd control, with Anemo knocking enemies up and Hydro slowing enemies. The rework also introduces a new Silence mechanic with its Electro reaction, barring enemies from dealing elemental damage. The Pyro “Raze” reaction would actsimilarly to Dendro’s interactions, dealing more damage to enemies afflicted with a Geo reaction.

One of the biggest criticisms levied against Geo in the post is the status of Geo characters inGenshin Impactfrom a teambuilding perspective. The lack of damaging reactions with the element has seen many players view Geo characters as less desirable in teams with mixed elements. Geo characters have largely been relegated to themono-Geo builds with characters like Gorouspecifically benefiting from fighting alongside other Geo characters. The addition of Dendro with its unique reactions has also highlighted many of the flaws with the Geo element’s basic reactions.

While Geo has seemingly been forgotten by HoYoVerse throughout recent updates,Genshin Impact’s character releases have continued to innovate on many of the game’s other elements. Theintroduction of Wanderer and Faruzanto the game in Version 3.3 have brought two powerful additions to Anemo team comps, with Wanderer acting as one of the element’s first true main DPS characters. Nilou, released in Version 3.1, also brings a unique element to Bloom-oriented team compositions with her Bountiful Cores.Genshin Impact’s elemental gameplay is primed for innovation and Geo is one of the elements needing it the most.

Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
