When it first came, the CreativeFortnitegame mode was nothing like what it is today - it was much more of a playground with rudimentary creative features than a hub with near absolute freedom. Over time, as updates were released, more features and abilities were implemented into this game mode. It hit a huge milestone with the release of the 24.01 updates which added its latest version called Unreal Editor.

How Creative 2.00 Works

Although it’s being calledCreative 2.00by the game’s fans,Fortnite’s latest creation tool is actually named Unreal Editor forFortnite(UEFN), and it’s a free PC application that anyone can use to develop their own games that they can then upload toFortnite.

Epic Games has shared tons of tutorials for those interested in designing their own games with their friends, even though the app is still in an early stage. Their objective is to keep adding to it and evolve it so that it can serve many of the same features as Unreal Engine.

How To Play Fortnite Creative 2.00

This is a huge addition toFortnite, but to many fans' surprise, it doesn’t actually require players to use any external software or installations. Everything required to access Creative 2.00 maps and game modes has already beenautomatically downloaded with all the weeklyFortnitepatchesthat are constantly released.

At the moment, there is no in-game distinction that might set apart a regular Creative map from one made with UEFN, but players can find them all in the Discover tab. Alternatively, they can also go to the Island Code tab and enter the island code they know was made with this new tool.

Epic Games has released its own tech demos so players can experience these new maps and get a little tease of what to expect from the UEFN in the future. Players interested in trying out these islands should input their code in thein-game Island Code tab:

Usually, Creative 2.00 maps tend to take some time to download the assets. This is also a way to tell them apart until Epic Games adds a distinctive tag.
