Epic Games is givingFortniteplayers a temporary boost to their XP gain to commemorate the debut of a new crossover. That crossover is betweenFortniteand famed rock band Metallica, which kicked off officially on June 13, and adds a series of activities and cosmetic upgrades based on Metallica and its members.
Fortniteis rapidly becoming a nexus of sorts for pop culture crossovers, with all manner of brand-based collaborations launching over the last few years. The game has come a long way since earlier crossovers likeadding Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Far from simple promotions for upcoming movies, collaborations are being treated with similar gravitas to real-life events, often involving the participation of real celebrities. Case in point: Metallica itself. As with other musical acts that have appeared in the game, theFortnitex Metallica crossover event will feature a live in-game musical event set for Jun 02, 2025.
Even for those uninterested in Metallica, though, Epic Games has something that should at least help players in their individual progression. The officialFortniteStatus Twitter account revealed that all players will be getting an XP boost to use freely. The boost should help players complete their Battle Pass levels a little more quickly, without having to resort to methods like farming onFortniteXP Mapsor other less engaging methods.
Fortnite Supercharged XP Boost Awarded to All Players
According to the tweet from Fortnite Status, all players playingFortnitehave receivedthe Supercharged XP bonus. Supercharged XP is a temporary, consumable bonus to a player’s XP gain rate that lasts for several tiers of their Battle Pass progression. When affected by Supercharged XP, almost any XP gains a player receives will be much larger than usual. For example, if opening a chest normally grants 100 XP, doing so while Supercharged will grant 400 XP, a 400% boost. Supercharged XP is occasionally activated manually by Epic to commemorate special events (such as in this case), but it’s also given to players that haven’t played for several days, helping them catch up if they’ve been away for a while.
Since the primary form of progression inFortniteis leveling Battle Pass tiers, any bonus to clearing those tiers more efficiently is a good one. After all,Battle Passes also unlock V-Bucks, which are needed to purchase new cosmetics, and even potentially new Battle Passes, allowing dedicated players the ability to experience moreFortniteactivities and get more rewards just by playing.
