The days come and go, players play games, andFortnitekeeps going. Not only a powerhouse in its own right, the game is a crossover monster. It’s so deep in crossovers that fans are creatingcrossovers withFortniteandAmong Uson their own time.

The current crossover forFortniteis with Marvel, and it includes multiple characters from all over Marvel’s universe. Players can get skins of Marvel heroes and interact with various different things from the Marvel universe. This includes landmarks, item drops, and boss fights against powerful foes. Some of the best additions have been the various weapons brought over from Marvel, some just cosmetic, and some very much their own entities. Now it seems that one of these has become much too powerful.

Out of all the Marvel characters players can use, there is only one villain: Dr. Doom. As one of the most powerful villains in Marvel’s history, Dr. Doom also makes an appearance as a boss on the map in his own lair. By defeating him, players can grab his powerful Mystical Bomb weapon. This weapon is separate from what player can unlock byfinding the giant throne as Doom, and is much more powerful. However, thanks to the discovery of a particularly powerful exploit, Doom’s Mystical Bomb has been disabled for the time being. This includes being disabled for the upcoming FNCS Finals.

The exploit that led to the disabling is a fairly simple one. Doom’s Mystical Bomb has a cooldown that prevents it from being spammed. This makes sense since the weapon is a huge ball of energy that deals heavy damage and sets an area on fire. However, by dropping it on the ground and picking it back up, the cooldown is immediately reset, allowing it to be spammed non-stop. Combined with the fact thatdefeating Dr. Doomis not particularly hard, the Mystical Bomb becomes an easily acquired super weapon.

In all likelihood, the Bomb will be re-enabled once the bug has been fixed. This is not the first timeFortnitehas had to deal with an exploit, and this one seems a simple fix. It’s arguably less impactful than an earlierbug that enabled every skin, even though it actually impacts gameplay.

Even so, while this isn’t the first time aFortniteglitch has given players easy wins, it’s rare that it’s enough of an issue to merit an official statement. No doubt it’s because the tournament is so close. It’s fitting that Dr. Doom, one of the strongest Marvel characters, managed to break the game somehow.

Fortniteis available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
