After an epic cinematic event this weekend, Epic Games shut downFortnitefor almost an entire day to prep for the launch of Chapter 3, Season 1. The climactic live event ended with theFortniteisland flipping entirely upside down to reveal a brand-new land for players to explore. While there are many new features and locations added toFortniteChapter 3, one of the new things that players can do is slide. This may not seem like a big deal for non-Fortniteplayers, but since thesliding mechanic was leaked earlier this year, many folks have been waiting for it.
As soon as the new update forFortniteis installed and players hop into their first match, they’ll be able to start using the newFortnitesliding move instantly, without needing to go through extra steps.

How to Slide in Fortnite Chapter 3
In order to perform the sliding move in Chapter 3, players will need to press down on the right stick, which is the same button used to crouch inFortnite. This is for players using a controller. If folks are using their keyboard and mouse to playFortniteon PC, they should look at their controls to see which button they have assigned to crouch. To change the controls inFortnite, players just need to head into their controller settings and remap to their liking.
There are some challenges inFortnitethat will require players to use the sliding mechanic, such as one available now. Players will earn 25K XP if theydeal 50 damage to opponents while sliding. It won’t be easy to do this on flat land, but if players go into a slide while going downhill, they can gain momentum and use that time to aim down sights and do some damage with a weapon.
Using the right stick on a system like the Nintendo Switch to slide might be uncomfortable and awkward, so it’s recommended to change it to another button, orFortniteplayerscan simply get used to it as the first season of Chapter 3 goes on.
Fortniteis currently free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The mobile version ofFortniteis still currently unavailable on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
