Fortniteis no stranger to high-profile crossovers, with the last couple of years seeing the battle royale collaborate with some of the biggest brands and franchises in the world. Epic Games is continuing this now-regularFortnitepractice, adding new content based on the upcoming filmFree Guy.
Premiering in theaters on August 13,Free Guyis a movie starring Ryan Reynolds as a bank teller named Guy who realizes he is an NPC in an open-world video game called Free City that will soon go offline. The film has so far well exceeded the usually dismal rating of a video game-based film, garnering an impressive 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. Director Shawn Levy recently explained his early success withFree Guyandwhy video game movies are so difficult to make.

Detailed in a post on the officialFortnitewebsite, players will be able to tackle theFree Guyquests beginning today. There are six quests in total, with each one associated with Reynolds' character in the film. Each quest is accessed from ATM machines, and features an actual quest video directive from Ryan Reynolds in character as Guy. Players mustget hit by a moving vehicle, take melee damage, place coins around the map, talk with any NPC, and use a campfire or reboot or revive teammates. Once the fifth is completed, the new Good Guy Emote will be unlocked, which features an audio clip of Reynolds' voice saying “Don’t have a good day, have a great day!”
While Guy himself isn’t available as aFortniteskin, his scarily swole variant Dude is. Giving Meowscles a run for his money, Dude is a ridiculously ripped version of Reynolds' Guy character, who, according to a clip released, appears to be an antagonist sent out by the Free City developers to put a stop to Guy’s game-saving efforts. TheFree Guycharacter joins a laundry list of recentFortnitecrossover skins, including singer Ariana Grande,The Suicide Squad’s Bloodsport, NBA star LeBron James,Street Fighter’s Cammy and Guile, and more.
Fortnitemay commonly have crossovers in terms of cosmetics, but the free-to-play title may be crossing over genres as well. Recently leaked teasers potentially indicateFortniteis adding an open world RPG mode. A prominent dataminer and leaker has shared two teaser images related to an upcoming game mode codenamed “Saturn.” The images appear to support the court documents previously revealed in May about the development of such a mode, leading to mounting evidence a uniqueFortnitemode could be on the horizon.
TheFree Guyquests should now be live in-game, with the Dude flexing his way intoFortnite’s item shop tonight at 8pm ET. Gamers who are looking for some “free"Free Guystuff can enterXbox’sFree Guygiveaway, where they can win a custom Xbox Series S and other prizes.
Fortniteis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
