Paramount Plus has just offered the first official look at the much-awaited live-actionHaloseries that is expected to premiere in 2022. The 27-second-long teaser trailer was shared by the streaming service on its social media channels, to mark the 20th anniversary of Xbox and the iconicHalofranchise.

TheHaloteaser consists of a series of close-up shots, mostly engulfed in darkness and mystery. Viewers see glimpses ofMaster Chief’s iconic Mjolnir armor, including his gloves, the 117 insignia on his suit, and the helmet. Towards the end of the trailer, Cortana, an artificial intelligence construct, is heard saying, “Hello, Master Chief.” The trailer then cuts off to reveal that the series will premiere in 2022, a fact that fans are already aware of.
In theHalogames franchise,Master Chief is one of the few mainplayable characters, as a Spartan commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. He is the protagonist in theHalotrilogy and Reclaimer Saga and is known to have received several medals for his service. He will be the main protagonist of theHalolive-action series and is at the center of the teaser trailer.
The series has cast Pablo Schreiber, fromAmerican Godsfame, as Master Chief and Cortana will be voiced by Jen Taylor, who is reprising her role from theHalogames. Apart from the two, Natascha McElhone will appear as Dr. Catherine Halsey, another important character from the games. Talks of a live-action adaptation forHalohave been ongoing for several years, with the idea of producing a film being raised after the success of the first gameHalo: Combat Evolved, which was released on July 31, 2025. However, it is only now that a live-action series is finally taking shape.
TheHalofranchiseconsists of a total of 14 first-person shooter games.Combat Evolvedwas one of the first few original games released along with the Xbox. The franchiseis among the list of most successful and popular video game franchises ever made.
It is considered to be Xbox’s flagship franchise, with over 80 million copies ofHalogames sold since the launch of the first entry in 2001. The games have a large multiplayer fanbase, considering it allows cross-platform play between Xbox and PC players.
