By far the fastest member of the party,Tifa is a martial artistthat specializes in hand-to-hand combat.

Using Unbridled Strength while in control of Tifa will increase her Chi level; a mechanic that is unique to Tifa and will allow her to unleash more powerful combo attacks. By default, Tifa will enter battles at Chi level one but if players unlock the Concentration feat in her weapon upgrades, there is a chance that she will start at level two. There are three levels in total, indicated by the names of her martial techniques: Whirling Uppercut (level one), Omnistrike (level two), and Rise and Fall (level three).
Leather Gloves
Tifa’sinitial weaponhas two linked materia slots and the most balanced stats of all her gloves. Many of the upgrades available for the Leather Gloves boost her standard abilities, including Unbridled Strength, which is what players should prioritize when spending SP to get the most out of Tifa’s combat.
The Leather Gloves will give Tifa access to Divekick, which will cost one ATB bar. Players will execute a somersault attack where Tifa will launch herself at enemies to close the distance, performing three kicks that deal area of effect damage. Players can chain Divekick with Tifa’s other attacks, with the move changing depending on her Chi level. Tifa will gain proficiency by finishing off an enemy using Divekick.
Metal Knuckles
Obtained during Chapter 5 after defeating the Crab Warden, the Metal Knuckles have the highest raw attack power out of Tifa’s available weapons in the game. Players can also unlock Bloodsucker by spending SP, which will allow Tifa to recover HP after taking down foes during combat.
Players will have two linked materia slots to begin with and canuse the ability Overpowerfor the low cost of one ATB charge. Much like Divekick, Overpower can also be used in conjunction with Tifa’s regular attacks and can be effective at getting enemies into a pressured state. Players will be encouraged to try this out as they can earn a proficiency bonus by following up Overpower with Tifa’s basic attacks to chain them together.
Sonic Strikers
As players make their waythrough Mako Reactor 5during Chapter 7, they will travel through various hallways leading them to the final encounter of the chapter. A chest containing the Sonic Strikers can be found in the far-left of one of these corridors and will have a distinct purple glow which makes it hard to miss. The Sonic Strikers will have two sets of two linked materia slots to begin with and gear more towards magic due to the weapon’s affinity for elemental damage.

Using Focused Strike will have Tifa dodge out of the way of incoming attacks before launching into her own counterattack. This attack will increase an enemy’s stagger gauge and Tifa will recover some of her ATB after using it. If players stagger a foe while using Focused Strike, they will gain a proficiency bonus and speed up the process of learning the ability permanently.
Feathered Gloves
One of thebest weapons to boost Tifa’s attack output, the Feathered Gloves also play into her speed, which is the highest among the party. Players can find the Feathered Gloves during Chapter 10 as they travel through the sewers beneath Sector 6, or later on in Chapter 14 when the area is revisited. Should players miss them in either instance, the weapon will be available for purchase during Chapter 16.
This weapon will have three individual materia slots before any upgrades, and players can spend SP to unlock the Concentration feat to give Tifa a better chance of going into battles with a higher Chi level. The Feathered Gloves will also come with the ability Starshower, which costs one ATB charge. When used, Tifa will unleash a series of nine rapid attacks, the last of which will have an area of effect. Any follow-up attacks used after Starshower will have increased damage, and players will earn proficiency if they use any of Tifa’s abilities or a spell immediately after Starshower.
Mythril Claws
The Mythril Claws are a magic-focused weapon for players that want to use Tifa as a spellcasteron top of her usual combat prowess. Players will be rewarded with these weapons after defeating the boss during Chapter 13. These gloves will come with one single and two linked materia slots.
Players gain access to the Chi Trap ability after obtaining the Mythril Claws. Tifa will expend one ATB bar to create an orb of concentrated Chi that will float in place and deal damage to enemies that come into contact with it or get within its short range while it is active. This ability is good for crowd control as it will stun enemies in place (if they are susceptible to it) and deals stagger over time. To increase proficiency, players simple need to use it in battle.
Purple Pain
Providing Tifa with the highest HP boost of all available weapons, Purple Pain is arguably her best weapon due to its inclination towards dealing physical damage. Players will obtain Purple Pain during Chapter 16 as theyassume control of Tifafor a short time. As players search for a key card, Tifa will need to use a series of handlebars to cross wide gaps. Before climbing a ladder to a higher platform, players can cross a lower set of handlebars that lead to a chest with the weapon inside.
Alongside two linked and two single materia slots to begin with, Tifa’s final ability is True Strike. For one ATB bar, Tifa will charge up a punch that deals damage and greatly increases the stagger damage bonus against enemies. Players can earn a proficiency bonus when learning True Strike by using it on staggered foes.
