The officialFinal Fantasy 14Twitter account announced that the open beta test for the Xbox Series X/S versions of the game is scheduled to begin mid-January to February. No specific dates were given regarding when the open beta takes place, but this test is the first chance gamers will get to try the MMO on the new platform. The actual dates will be given as the beta test period draws closer, with this timeframe also providing enough time for the developers to stress test this version of the game before it launches in Spring.
According to Square Enix,the Xbox version ofFinal Fantasy 14will sport faster loading times and can support 4K resolution. The launch of the MMO on Xbox will come with the base game and its expansions all at once, and it can also support cross play, meaning new and old players can explore Eorzea together regardless of platform.
Alongside the Xbox version,Final Fantasy 14will be releasing content for the MMO throughout 2024. This includes Dawntrail, which will be releasing in Summer 2024 and is set to expand the game even further.
