The upcoming Island Sanctuary will be free to access for all players and will give access to a massive island they can explore. Players will be able to gather materials and craft items and buildings, including a main base of operations where one’s favorite minions can roam free. Though primarily solo content, players can also invitefriends and Free Company members inFinal Fantasy 14to visit their instanced island. WhileFinal Fantasy 14could not reveal too many screenshots yet, it did show a blurry top-down view of the island, including a player character for reference.
Players will also be able to plant special crops and collect, name, and raise various critters on their island. The island will be full of customizations and will use a separate currency system and inventory, so players will not have to worry about clogging their normal bags. Island Sanctuaries also have a market system that allows players to sell goods and crafts for the Island Sanctuaries currency, which can be exchanged for special rewards.
Final Fantasy 14players can’t wait to experience the Island Sanctuary. Many of the activities in the system sound reminiscent offarming simulators likeStardew ValleyorAnimal Crossing, which have gained even more popularity over the quarantine. Though it is not yet known exactly how much customization will be present for the Island Sanctuary, many players consider the system an alternative answer to the flawed and flooded housing market inFinal Fantasy 14.
