Final Fantasy 14(FF14) is a popular massively multiplayer online game (MMO) and with the release of the 6.1 patch named Newfound Adventure, players were delighted with the new additions to the game. From the new 24-man raid to the continuation of the 6.0 main story quest (MSQ),FF14players have a plethora of new content to get involved in.

One of the main highlights of the 6.1 patch is the fact that a brand-new player versus player (PvP) mode Crystalline Conflict was added. There was also the addition of brand-new side quests to keep players busy in the world of Eorzea. Among all the content that has been added, here are some of the best new aspects.

10The 24-Man Alliance Raid Aglaia

InFF14,there are two different standard raids, with the exception of the savage and ultimate versions of the raids. Normal raids are eight-player battles, whereas alliance raids include 24 players, which takes a little more time to complete. With the release of 6.1 Newfound Adventure, players are now able to unlock the alliance raid Aglaia, the first part of the Myths of the Realm raid series.

This raid, similar to every other raid inFF14, offers players the chance to roll on the Panthean gearsets. Players must beat 6 bosses to complete the raid, and each major boss will drop loot. The raid also gives players the perfect opportunity to take a look at everyone’sadventure plates.

9The 6.1 Main Story Quests

The Endwalker expansion is a much-loved part of theFF14storyline. It was the end of the first chapter of the main story and left players wanting to know more about what happens next to their favorite characters.

InFF14,each expansion has numerous additional patches throughout the lifecycle of the latest addition to the game. Players were finally able to find out what the Warrior of Light will get up to in the next chapter of the story. The 6.1 Newfound Adventure MSQ was much-anticipated due to the prospect of a completely new storyline, especially since the prior storyline was in motion from 2012 to 2021.

8The New PvP Mode: Crystalline Conflict

PvP has always been an option inFF14.Though the Frontline and Rival Wings mode are somewhat popular in their own way, Crystalline Conflict has taken the player base by storm. This PvP mode is a 5v5 battle with a time limit of 5 minutes. Players can choose between casual matches and ranked matches, both giving the PvP currency wolf marks and PvP experience points (EXP).

This new PvP mode inFF14was a breath of fresh air to many players due to the fast speed of the matches and a more traditional PvP style. Crystalline Conflict is essentially apayload mode, where players must transport the crystal to their goal.

7The Housing Area Empyreum

It is always an exciting time when players can buy a private house or even a house for their Free Company (FC). In 6.1, the housing area Empyreum was released to the public after being view-only since the release of Endwalker in December 2021.

Empyreum is based on the area Ishgard, a city unlocked in the second expansion ofFF14, Heavensward. It’s a well-known area due to its gothic themes and iconic background music, especially if players are fans of the Azure Dragoon, Estinien.

6The Housing Lottery System

InFF14,the process of obtaining a house has historically been a stressful time. Multiple players would stand at a vacant plot for hours throughout the day, clicking on the plot placard in hopes that they click it at the exact moment the house went up for sale, before anyone else.

The 6.1 patch provides a new lottery system for players to purchase a house.FF14players can now enter a lottery for their plot of choice. This consists of 5 days to submit a place in the lottery, and a 4-day results period where the victor can finalize the process and move into their new house.

5The Nier Pod Mount

FF14is developed bySquare Enix, who also developedNier Automata. Both of these games are incredibly popular within theSquare Enixcommunity, so it makes sense that players were more than happy to find out they could obtain the Pod mount.

This mount is a charming replica of the Pods found inNier Automata, and players can get it by spending 300,000 Manderville Golden Saucer Points (MGP). However, the Pod 602 Identification Key only appears in the Golden Saucer shop when the player has completed all three of theNiercollaboration event raids inFF14. It’s a shame players can’t flex this awesome mount inLimsa Lominsawhile they cosplay as fan-favorite 2B.

4Additions To The Duty Support System

The duty support system allowsFF14players to advance through duties found in the main storyline with non-playable characters (NPCs) rather than fellow players. The duty support system now works with duties from the first expansion,A Realm Reborn, meaning brand-new players can now progress quicker and easier through the MSQ.

It was often tedious for new players when they realized they couldn’t progress any further until they had completed a dungeon that had a 40-minute wait queue due to how old the content is. Yes, it is now possible to fight through dungeons alongsideeveryone’s favorite cat girl, Y’shtola.

3Lucid Dreaming Change

This one may seem like a lackluster improvement for those who don’t main any of the healer classes inFF14, but Lucid Dreaming is an ability that many players will be using a lot. In the 6.1 patch, Lucid Dreaming was changed to being unlockable at level 14 for healers instead of level 24. This is due to the fact that Lucid Dreaming is a useful ability that restores the player’s mana points (MP) after usage, meaning it’s a must for healers.

While the content isn’t as heavy on damage at level 14 to level 24 compared to the later content inFF14, some situations required more healing than others; for example, the dungeons' The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak and The Aurum Vale. This caused the healer’s MP to reduce significantly, sometimes resulting in no MP left to even heal a party member.

2New Market Board Filter Option

The market boards in MMOs are always one of the most crucial parts of the game. It’s where players can spend their hard-earned in-game currency and earn some too. 6.1 Newfound Adventure provided players with a massive quality of life improvement inFF14.

In the new update, a yellow tick now appears on the icons for items that the player has already obtained, making this extremely useful for the players that have accumulated a mass of items throughout their years of playingFF14. This feature allows players to quickly identify what they already have, to not onlysave them Gil, but time too.

1More Hairstyles for Viera…Finally

It’s no secret that the players ofFF14love the Viera race — who wouldn’t love elegant bunnies? One of the main downsides of the Viera is the lack of hair options for both female and male characters. It’s a similar feeling when it comes to Hrothgar players too, especially with the hairstyles that remove theHrothgar’s earsin 6.1.

Players are always keen to get their hands on new hairstyles for their Viera character, and luckily 6.1 provided the goods. New hair was made available in the 6.0 release ofEndwalker, but two additional hairstyles were also added in patch 6.1. One of these hairstyles is the ever-popular Both Ways, a braided side ponytail that is widely seen on players throughout Eorzea.
