Fate/Samurai Remnantfollows Miyamoto Iori and his struggles after becoming a Master in the “Waxing Moon Ritual.” Working alongside a mysterious Heroic Spirit of the Saber class, he must face six other Master and Servant pairs to claim victory in the Ritual and gain the wish-granting power of the Waxing Moon.
Whether directly controlling Miyamoto Iori, playing as Saber, or utilizing a Rogue Servant’s power, there are five stats that govern a character’s combat capabilities. These stats are: HP, ATK, DEF, MAT, and TEC. Understanding these stats is crucial to fully masteringFate/Samurai Remnant’s combat system and making the most of each character.
What Does HP do?
HP is the easiest stat to understand since it governs a character’s maximum health. This means a character with more HP can take more punishment in combat before getting defeated.Finding ways to increase Iori’s HP early oncan be very useful if players are struggling with dodging or with combat encounters in general. Having more wiggle room to make mistakes can be incredibly helpful for learning the combat system and remains a valuable safety net for making mistakes or getting caught off guard.
What Does ATK do?
ATK is another easy-to-understand stat as it increases the damage dealt by a character’s physical attacks. These make up the bulk of most characters' movesets, so having a high ATK stat is great for sweeping through hordes of enemies with greater ease.
What Does DEF do?
The opposite of ATK, DEF reduces the damage a character takes from all incoming attacks. This allows a character with high DEFto get hit by powerful attacks and get back up, making it another great stat to invest in early while getting used to the game’s combat system. The Skill Tree branch associated with Iori’s Earth Style contains several DEF-increasing nodes and can be accessed early if players focus their skill points on reaching the Heavy Attack 1 enhancement (which allows Iori to block and counterattack by holding down the heavy attack button while in Earth Stance.)
What Does MAT do?
MAT is the Magic Attack stat, strengthening elemental attacks and magecraft attacks. Thisallows Iori to deal more damage with his various fire-element magecraftsand Wind Stance heavy attacks. Many Servants implement elemental damage into their attacks too, making this an especially valuable stat for many Servants too. Iori can easily raise his MAT by completing Leyline battles and unlocking nodes in the Wind Style skill tree branch. Most Servants can raise their MAT through nodes on their skill tree, too.
What Does TEC do?
The TEC stat can, most easily, be thought of as a sort of Luck Stat. It raises a character’s critical rate, the success rate of perfect evasions (making Ripostes easier to pull off), and the chance of activating certain skills (such as Link Strikes and Saber Follow-ups.) This stat is very useful when facing enemy Servants and powerful monsters since Link Strikes are fantastically effective at stunning enemies with a shell gauge.
