Tomorrow marks the release ofBorderlands 3’sthird DLC calledBounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption. As expected, the upcoming content update will be bringing tons of new features, story, gameplay objects, and other things that are set to introduce a fresher and more exciting gameplay experience. As previously mentioned, Bounty of Blood will be the third out of four DLC expansions forBorderlands 3,with the fourth scheduled to release sometime in September 2020.
SinceBorderlands 3’srelease last September, developer Gearbox Software has introduced two DLC expansions called Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, and Guns, Love, & Tentacles. Both content updates introduced many features into the game including new storylines, legendary items, and gameplay mechanics. Although the upcoming Bounty of Blood expansion is expected to be feature-packed as its predecessors, it appears that DLC 3 won’t be featuring a past playable character as a returning NPC, whichbreaks the pattern of previousBL3expansions. Now, for players who are patiently waiting for the release of the upcoming content update, here is everything new in Bounty of Blood so far.

New Gameplay Objects
According to Gearbox creative director Matt Cox, Bounty of Blood will be introducing four new additions intoBorderlands 3’scombat loop. These new additions will be in the form of gameplay objects that will introduce “different avenues of different styles of combat and ways to negotiate all the craziness inBorderlands.” These new objects are designed to encourage the player to approach combat in a different manner.
First is something called a traitor weed that, when shot by players, will release bugs that will force enemies to kill other enemies for eight to nine seconds. Then there’s the core-spider that players can melee, which will allow it to shotgun high-damage shrapnel. The third gameplay object is called a breeze, which will act as a jump-pad that will soar players into the air by a puff of air. Lastly,theBL3DLCwill introduce a telezapper, which is basically a teleporter that will allow players to travel from point A to point B instantly.
Apart from those four gameplay objects, the DLC will also introduce a new vehicle called the Jetbeast hoverbike, which is customizable and will helpVault Hunterstraverse the open plains of Gehanna. The jetbeast is half jetbike and half creature and can be outfitted with artillery such as dual machine guns or mortar weapons. As stated inBorderlands 3’sofficial website, “Every Western needs a horse, and for the vault hunter, it’s the jetbeast.”
Level Cap Increase and New Skills
Yesterday, it was confirmed thatBorderlands 3is raising the level cap once againfrom 57 to 60, adding three skill points for players to play around with. However, some players believe that this would invalidate everything that they have farmed so far, given that some gear in the game cannot go beyond level 57. This means that players will have to re-farm everything in their inventory to obtain the best gear possible.
Moreover, Bounty of Blood will also be introducing three new skills to the skill tree, and players should note that it is easy to miss these new additions, given that one has to scroll down on theGuardian Rank pageto see them. First of the new skills is called Groundbreaker, which will allow melee attacks or slam to trigger an aftershock, dealing 25% of all non-melee damage over the last five seconds. Next is Dead Man Walking, which will allow the Fight for Your Life meter to drain 50% slower when not moving. Last is Lead or Alive, which will allow the player’s guns to be automatically reloaded when entering Fight for Your Life.
New Story and Missions
InBorderlands 3’sofficial website, it is indicated that Bounty of Blood will allow players to “save the town” while completing a new story and side missions on Gehanna. It was implied that the player’s actions will have a lasting impact on the lives of the residents of the Vestige itself. However, players should note that it wasn’t actually confirmed that their choices would change the town itself, so this remains to be seen whenBounty of Blood releases tomorrow.
As for the new story, players will be traveling to the harsh desert planet of Gehanna to claim a bounty on The Devil Riders, a vicious gang of bandits who have been terrorizing the small town of Vestige. Players can then team up with the locals to battle against The Devil Riders, and along the way, players will encounter familiar faces like Rose and Juno.
Borderlands 3is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, while the Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption DLC is set to release on June 25.
