TheEpic Games Storehas recently announced Epic Rewards, a new program that will give 5% of any eligible purchase back to the players. Like thereturn of Epic’s free mystery games, this cashback program is one the latest of Epic’s many attempts to improve its popularity against the giant Steam.

Since the release of the platform a few years ago, the Epic Games Store has been facing fierce competition from Steam, which still dominates the PC gaming market, despite Epic’s efforts. This prompted the platform to offer countless free games, create anEpic self-publishing tool for indie devs, and devise several other plans to attract customers. Now, Epic has unveiled its latest plan: cashback rewards.

The new Epic Rewards is a cashback system in which players will get 5% of the value they paid in games, add-ons, and virtual currencies back, as long as these products are eligible for this promotion in theEpic Games Store. While it’s still not 100% clear what exact games will be available for cashback, the official announcement does mentionFortnite’s V-Bucks as an example of virtual currency. Up until two weeks after the original purchase, this balance will be added to the gamer’s Rewards Balance, and it can be used for new purchases on the online store. Anyone who is authorized to purchase on the website and has accepted the latest version of the company’s License Agreement automatically joins the program.

These rewards can also be combined with other coupons, according to Epic. However, players should know that Epic Rewards will expire after 25 months. If they don’t use these points, they will eventually lose them. So, it’s a good idea to utilize these discounts to get some of themost anticipated 2023 games on the Epic Games Store.

Fortunately, discounts are not everything that Epic is giving players right now, as the company continues its long tradition of giving away free games every week. At the moment, gamers can grab the standard version ofDeath Strandingon the Epic Games Store, which will be available up until May 25.Death Strandingis an acclaimed game from Kojima Productions, and it was Hideo Kojima’s first project after he left Konami. It was released originally back in 2019, and featured a sprawling open world that could be explored by players, as well as a weird, mysterious storyline full of twists. Soon, another mystery game will be available, too, and it’s likely to be a high-profile title as well.
