Elden Ringhas been shown to be a world of terrifying enemies and dark crypts to explore, with the Summer Game Fest trailer captivating fans with the world’s amazing world design. However, if the reaction ofElden Ring’s fanbase is anything to go by, the trailer was good for one reason, and one reason alone: the reveal of the humble creature that has become known as Pot Boy.
Pot Boy is a small, rotund creature that, as its name suggests, is a moving pot. Close examination of its arms seems to show that its ‘flesh’ is made of stones and mud, thus making it some kind of animated golem, but the general consensus online has been extremely positive around the shambling vase-creature. They have beenshown to inhabit bothElden Ring’s tombs and shaded gardens, raising player’s hopes that the game will feature the rotund golems in multiple instances.

FromSoftware titles are no stranger to thefanbase taking liberties withDark Souls' ‘cuter’ enemies, andElden Ring’s Pot Boy is no exception. WithElden Ringstill over half a year away, fans are taking to fanart, memes, and videos to express their dedication to the new stars ofElden Ring.TheElden Ringsubreddit in particular is rife with Pot Boy content, as the fanbase exalt Pot Boy’s continued existence.
As well as memes, fans are also producing model representations of Pot Boy in stunning detail, especially considering the brief amount of time since the porcelain creatures were first shown off. The swirling pattern on the top half of Pot Boy is, as of yet, unknown in terms of any meaning it may possess, but fervent FromSoftware fanatics have dug deep intothe secrets found within past FromSoftware titleswith such determination that the secrets of Pot Boy may not be held for long onceElden Ringlaunches.
Of course, aside from lighthearted jokes about the now-legendary Pot Boy, there are those who understand that the world ofElden Ringis not likely to look kindly on mercy. In a dark, forlorn setting, sacrifices must be made, and the mineral, container-based nature of Pot Boy makes them a prime target to drop upgrade materials and other life-sustaining items. It is with a heavy heart that some users are readying to destroy the Pot Boys to ensure their own survival.
If there’s anything to take from this tirade of praise for Pot Boy, it’s that theElden Ringcommunity is already at boiling point of hype for the upcoming RPG. After a painstaking wait, andmultiple inaccurateElden Ringleaks, the flood of content from the Summer Game Fest and subsequent interviews byElden Ringdirector Hidetaka Miyazaki have left the community overwhelmed and excited by the scope of the title, even if a little bit too much of that hype is being given to a ceramic jar on legs.
