Patch 1.08 was a great addition forElden Ring, as with it came the release of the highly anticipated Colosseums, in which players can engage in various forms of arena combat. Best of all, this was a free update and so every Tarnished can test out their skills. There are Colosseums at Limgrave, Caelid, and Leyndell, each hosting different modes with their own rules.

One of the main benefits of fighting in the Colosseums is thatElden Ringplayers can finally engage in PvP without having to worry about losing runes or anything else. The arena fights are their own thing with no outside consequences. Despite the success of this update, there are many improvements players would like to see in order for Colosseum fights to reach their full potential.
6Colosseum Sites of Grace
There are three Colosseums inElden Ringat Limgrave, Caelid, and Leyndell. All three can only bereached the first timeby defeating some form of gatekeeper. After a player has entered a particular Colosseum once, it will then also be accessible from the Roundtable Hold. Here, players can choose which mode they’d like to play, which map they’d like to play in, and even which rules they’d like to play by.
While the Roundtable Hold Matchmaking hub is a fantastic addition, if, for example, players want to visit The Royal Colosseum in person, then each time they have to get past considerable foes who will even follow players inside. To avoid this, Sites of Grace could be placed inside the doors of each Colosseum.
5Clarity
When playing United Combat especially, clarity can be a bit of an issue. It can be hard to spot the difference between friend and foe, and with a maximum of six combatants, things can get a bit messy.

To fix this, FromSoftware should add team-colored indicators above players' heads, for example, red and blue. Alternatively, each player could be outlined in their team’s color, although this could impede theaesthetics of players' favorite armor.
4Time Display And Scoreboard
Being able to see how much time is remaining, is a key feature for any multiplayer game and something that is currently missing in the Colosseum. The only instances where players are shown the time is a general message at the start stating how long the combat will last, as well as a reminder when 30 seconds remain.
On top of this, due to the lack of a scoreboard, Tarnished can only see their own kill count in the free-for-all mode Combat Ordeal. In team-based United Combat, there is nothing at all. The absence of a time display and scoreboard leads to players being unsure of when topush for more killsand when to hold onto their impending victory.
3Independence From Multiplayer
When loadingElden Ringplayers can either launch the game in offline or online mode with no real in-between. For Tarnished who don’t want their screens and immersion overrun with messages andbloodstains left by other players, they have to opt for offline mode. Players also avoid online mode out of fear of invasion.
Now, however, if offline players wanted to engage in some Colosseum PvP where there is no chance of losing runes, they would have to reload the game in online mode, even for just a quick duel. If FromSoftware could give the Colosseums independence from other online features, then even more players could enjoy arena PvP whenever they want.
2Best Of 3’s And Rematches
Especially for Duel Mode, it can be rather frustrating to queue up and square off against an opponent, only for the fight to be over in a flash. By making duels best-of-3 or even best-of-5, FromSoftware could ensure that players get the best experience possible. Further benefits would include the ability to come back from losing to acheesy or lucky hit, especially if the players are equal in skill.

Alternatively, the ability to offer and accept rematches would be great for players who enjoyed a competitive back-and-forth duel, as currently, there is no way to connect with opposing Tarnished. Rematches or the option to stay as a team would also be great for United Combat.
1Rewards And Progression
Currently, for the Colosseum modes inElden Ring, there are no rewards or progression of any kind once a game has concluded. While the main draw to any new feature should always be its enjoyment value, something that FromSoftware has certainly delivered in abundance, a form of progression is key to retaining long-term attention.
Furthermore, for those consistently coming out on top in duels or free-for-alls, having no way to see orshow off their accomplishmentscan feel unsatisfactory. A simple global leaderboard for each of the game modes would solve this issue, but the developers could decide to take this even further. Ideas for rewards could include unique armor and weapons, or even alternative cosmetics.
Elden Ringis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
