The company has produced these games for nearly 3 decades with the first title in the series beingFIFA International Soccerwhich was released on historic platforms like the SNES and Sega Mega Drive. EA has filed for a trademark indicating that the popular game mode will be known in the future as Football Ultimate Team, dropping the FIFA name while at the same time retaining the FUT acronym. It’s likely that the game mode will remain largely the same otherwise. TheUltimate Team mode allows players to build their dream teamconsisting of their favorite players from clubs all over the world by purchasing booster packs. The Ultimate Team mode on its own is hugely lucrative to EA but is often criticized for its microtransaction-heavy nature.
Whether or notEA Sports FCwill be as successful as the FIFA-branded games remains to be seen, but EA is certainly doing everything in its power to continue delivering an experience that fans ofFIFAgames have grown to love.
