Whether talking aboutDying Light 2or its predecessor, developer Techland deserves quite a bit of credit for coming up with ways to keep people interested in its zombie-fighting survival games. The company has a pretty good track record at this point for making sure that its games are well-supported. Sometimes, that means there’s extra content available. Other times, it just means that its games get souped-up like theDying Light 2upgradeto Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
The latest way that Techland has found a way to give a shot in the arm to the global interest inDying Light 2is by launching the Bloody Summer event. The thing that stands out is that it’s not just a way to keep people coming back to play the game that launched just a few months back. It’s also a rather unique way to generate some interest in going back in the game, even for those who might have already beaten it once. It’s the kind of event that other games could take some notes from because this isn’t about completing one particular mission or another. The Bloody Summer event is a kind of new approach to playing the game or games like it and making sure that people do it with very specific weapons.

Dying Light 2 Bloody Summer
TheDying Light 2Bloody Summer event launchedon June 30, and along with it, the game officially launched a kind of combination contest and community cooperation event. The event has some goals that players can reach on their own and then a couple of big goals that are all about encouraging as many players as possible to jump into the fight.
At its core, the innovative event is actually fairly simple. Those who want who enjoyparagliding and parkouring their way to kills inDying Light 2will get rewarded, as long as they continue to do so by also hacking and slashing. The first part of the event is encouraging players to dismember enemies by cutting off their arms and legs. For each appendage chopped off, users will get to earn Harper’s Tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade players through new moves or items. For this particular event, Techland has made it clear that it has made it a bit easier to indeed hack an arm or a leg off, so it’s not a situation where players are running out there hoping to earn a ton of Harper’s Tokens only to find that the limbs aren’t coming off.
For thoseDying Light 2players who really get into the action and chop off a ton of arms and legs, it turns out there are some extra rewards beyond just the tokens. Once a player has hit the milestone of 300 limbs hacked off, they’ll earn a new weapon, the Cutting Edge axe. Of course, going after enemies with this particular axe will also make it easier to baddies into tiny pieces.
It turns out that making it even easier to hack and slash is a good thing because even after users haveupgraded their character inDying Light 2characterto their preferred level. The Bloody Summer event is not simply for people to get stuff all on their own. As yet another incentive to get as many people back into the game as possible, there is also a community reward. If everyone who partakes in this particular event managed to combine to cut off three million arms and legs, all of those players will also get a cool cosmetic in the Nightrunner outfit.
All of this boils down to a fun new addition to a game that has already gotten plenty of support since it launched. That includes anew story chapter forDying Light 2as well as a photo mode and more just a month ago.
