Every Vocation inDragon’s Dogma 2offers a select set ofskills only that Vocation can use, except for the Warfarer which can access all other class skills. But even the Warferer can’t use each Vocation’s Ultimate skill, which one can only learn by getting the approval of the Vocation-Maister.

Thieves are unique in that they can unlock two Thief-Maister skills inDragon’s Dogma 2. A false Thief-Maister teaches the first, while the second can only be learned by finding the true Thief-Maister. Conveniently, both Thief-Maister locations are near each other, and are directly intertwined with the main quest.

Dragons Dogma 2 Thief Maister Location Skill Blades of the Pyre

DD2 Thief-Maister Ultimate Skills

Blades of the Pyre (Legend’s Opus scroll)

Brings the daggers together to ignite, wreathing them in a blazing inferno so potent that the user cannot escape being burned.

Blades of the Pyre is the first of two Thief-MeisterDragon’s Dogma 2skills the Arisen can acquire, and has an interesting dual effect. When activated, Blades of the Pyre sees the Arisen lift their blades and charge a strong, close-range explosive attack – but the blast also damages the Thief slightly. This attack will blast away smaller targets, and deal heavy Fire damage to enemies too large to launch.

Dragons Dogma 2 Thief Maister Location Skill Formless Feint

It’s a powerful Maister ability that Thief players can get, but the downside can be a bit annoying. Mitigate it with some Fire-resistant gear, and be careful of your timing when you activate this ability. Using it while at low Health can be deadly, especiallyif you are just starting the gameand have low HP.

Legend’s Opus

Formless Feint (Pilferer’s Handbook scroll)

Accelerates the user’s reactions to an ungodly degree, enabling them to evade all manner of attacks from hostile targets. Consumes Stamina while active.

Formless Feint is the Thief-Maiser skillDragon’s Dogma 2players can get from the True Thief-Maister. This skill is not an offensive one, instead it allows the Arisen to slip into the shadows and avoid almost every incoming attack. The dodge bonus is only active while Formless Feint is toggled on, but consumes Stamina while it remains enabled.

Dragons Dogma 2 Thief Maister Location Skill-1

Pilferer’s Handbook

Essentially a toggleable passive ability, Formless Feint is deceptively powerful. Though the exact percentage increase to the Arisen’s dodge chance isn’t known, it appears to make a Thief nigh-unhittable for all types of attacks. It will last as long as it remains enabled, but be careful not to let it completely sap you of Stamina.

Thief-Maister Locations

There are two Thief-Maisters inDragon’s Dogma 2 –a false one, and a true Thief-Maister. Both of these characters can be encountered normally during the main quest, specifically during the “The Nameless Village” quest offered by Brant. To earn the approval of each Thief-Maister, players simply need to progress this questline –there is no level restrictionor Vocation Rank required to use these skills.

But both of these NPCs will reward the Arisen with a Maister Skill scroll, and thus it is the only Vocation that can learn more than one Maister Ultimate Skill inDragon’s Dogma 2.

False Thief-Meister: Blades of the Pyre

To find the first Thief-Maister, head to The Nameless Village to the far northeast of Vernworth. As part ofBrant’s quest “The Nameless Village”, players are sent here to investigate the False Sovran’s origins. Arrive in the village, take note of your surroundings, and speak with NPCs around the Inn to be guided to the Manor on the hill.

Inside the Manor, you should find a man named Flaude leaning on the wall by a fireplace. Talk to him, and exhaust his dialogue to progress the main quest, then talk to him again. He should automatically offer you the Thief-Maister skill Blades of the Pyre, as you already impressed him by finding the Old Manor.

True Thief Meister: Formless Feint

Later in the “The Nameless Village” questline, players will be directed to find the thief hideout in the village. Head back to the Old Manor, and look in the bushes next to the front entrance to find a well. Climb down the well and you will be presented with a kind of obstacle course.

Complete this obstacle course, and open the door to find the Thief-Maister’s location deep underground in the Harve Village Depths. Dialogue with Srail should automatically begun upon entering the room at the end of the obstacle course. Exhaust this dialogue, then talk to Srail again, to get the Formless FeintDragon’s Dogma 2Thief-Maister ultimate skill.
