Though the featured classes ofDiablo 4are made from some of the most iconic archetypes of Sanctuary, a player did their best to recreate the Witch Doctor, who only had the spotlight inDiablo 3. The uniqueness of Witch Doctors, from their poison darts and hexes, to their zombies and voodoo magic, gaveDiablo 3an identity that immediately set it apart from its predecessor. WhereasDiablo 4tilts back towards the traditional classessuch as Druid and Rogue,Diablo 3was a trailblazer in that regard.
Crusaders and Monks, Witch Doctors and Demon Hunters, the classes inDiablo 3represented a fresh take on Sanctuary’s power fantasies, which explains why some people are nostalgic about them following the launch ofDiablo 4. The current absence of a holy-based class heavily implies that players might see the debut of a new class based around the Paladin, Crusader, and Monk. Witch Doctors, on the other hand, exist in a strange space. Necromancers have their skeletal armies, curses, blood magic, and spirit magic, which means that adding Witch Doctors in their current form would feel redundant to some degree.

That being said, it is possible to giveNecromancers inDiablo 4a bit of a Witch Doctor flair through a few inspired customization options. The design made by DartfordBandit manages to perfectly encapsulate the aesthetic of a Witch Doctor, even if he’s missing his Locust Swarm and trusty Piranhas. Character customization inDiablo 4allows plenty of freedom in designing a unique look, though players are already hoping that Blizzard will introduce more hairstyles to the game, as well as implement a possibility to change them on the go.
Though many players have taken issue with theexorbitant microtranscation prices inDiablo 4, the base outfits offer plenty of stylish options to choose from in several color palettes. With the possible return of set items in the coming months, players should also expect to see their wardrobe expand without having to purchase any of the premium cosmetics inDiablo 4.
While fans have their fair share of criticisms ofDiablo 4, the latest Blizzard title has enjoyed tremendous success on both a commercial and critical level. Simply put,Diablo 4is breaking Blizzard records, and the developers have been quick to announce at least two expansions currently in the works. As players share their unique heroes and adventures in the apocalyptic wastelands of Sanctuary, it is important to remember that the next chapter of theDiablosaga has only just begun.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
