UPDATE:Bungie is aware of the issue and looking into it.
Original Story follows:
The next phase ofDestiny 2has finally arrived with theShadowkeepexpansion as well as the New Light free to play version. This latest update changes, updates, and adds all sorts of things to the base experience including a overhauled armor system that gives players greater control over the look of the gear in addition to customizing its stats and mods. One of thebiggest additions is the Battle Pass, a seasonal reward system where players can earn some valuable items and gear just for playing. One of the rewards, however, has
Inside of the Season of the Undying is an artifact called the Gate Lord’s Eye and item that players can unlock once they reach level seven of the newDestiny 2Battle Pass system. Through this item, players are able to increase their Power level well beyond the hard cap of 950 through continually leveling it up. However, it appears that unlocking the item has a chance to break progression if done under certain conditions.

Over on theDestiny 2sub-reddit, one user reveals that they’re now completely locked out of using the device entirely. After climbing to rank 7, they claimed their seasonal artifact during a Nightfall mission though the item never appeared in their character inventory as expected. What likely happened is that the item became glitched due to their loading being locked with the Nightfall strike mission being active. At this point, the there doesn’t seem to be a solution to this issue, so players should avoid claiming the artifact during missions that lock character loadouts.
All in all, theShadowkeepandNew Lightlaunch has been fairly smooth outside of the initial server crush. Bungie tookDestiny 2down for a 24 hour maintenance period on Monday, and once the new update launched the following day, players were unfortunately met withserver and connection issues as well as a login queuefor the first couple of hours. Things continued to improve as the day rolled on until the game returned to normal for the majority of players. While these types of issues are never good, the studio handled things pretty well and as quickly as it could especially considering it no longer has support from a parent company like Activision.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeepis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
