One of the weapons added to Bungie’sDestiny 2in its Black Armory DLC wasJotunn, an exotic fusion riflethat fires chargeable, explosive shots that cover its blast radius in flames. Though Jotunn stands out for having an interesting impact on the tide of battle, it also holds the distinction of looking a bit like a toaster with a handle, and one fan has capitalized on this fact with their own take on the weapon.
Michael “Delta” Ault uploaded a short clip to Twitter Monday of a Jotunn he animated that makes “flaming hot toast” emblazoned with theDestinylogo. The self-proclaimed self taught 3D designer and amateur animator has worked on a host ofDestiny-related content in the past particularly in relation to the series' weapons. Earlier today he advertised a recreated and usable Jotunn that fans can download from theSteam Workshopfor use inGarry’s Mod.

Ault says his new Jotunn Toaster costs “25 easy payments of $19.99,” and though he caps off the post by saying he does not regret the time spent, he did follow up on that clip with a tweet today asking “why do all my stupid creations blow up?” As of this writing, theDestiny 2Jotunn Toaster post has received nearly 2,000 likes, 500 retweets, and has 75 comments.
Though this fan-made post is just one example of howDestiny 2lives and dies by player reception to its colorful roster of weapons, Bungie has run into some issues with its tools of war in recent weeks. The quest to unlockDestiny 2’s new Felwinter’s Lie Shotgunwas bugged, and the hotfix implemented to reverse the problem wound up leading to a new issue where the gun did not appear in player’s collections.
The fandom surroundingDestiny 2’s weapons has led to lots of fan art being produced in the past. One creator who goes by TheMaestroNoob on Reddit has become fairly well known for creating “sexy” humanoidart of weapons like The Last Wordand in-game bosses like Oryx, The Taken King.
Ault’s art is much more safe for work, and according to his ArtStation page he “mainly makes creations for the fun of it.” Some of that work, like portingone ofDestiny 2’s best fusion riflesintoGarry’s Mod, has had a direct impact on interested fans, and on the Steam Workshop page he advertises a PayPal account for anyone who wants to support his hobby.
