Releasing a massively popular first season and following it up with a record-breaking movie adaptation last year,Demon Slayerhas had an incredibly successful few years since its inception back in 2019. Its next big venture will tackle the realm of video games, withDemon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chroniclesslated to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
Earlier today, SEGA announced that the adaptation would be getting a Western release alongside its debut in Japan, withThe Hinokami Chroniclesofficially debuting in North America and Europe on October 15. The reveal was made alongside an action-packed trailer, which recounts the story ofDemon Slayer’sfirst seasonand provides a first look at its campaign.

As those who’ve watched the show will already be aware, the game follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young swordsman who embarks on a quest to avenge his family and cure his sister after demons ravage his home. It seems most of the anime’s most impactful moments will be playable throughout theDemon Slayergame’s main campaign, including Tanjiro’s face-off against Sabito, his war against the Hand Demon during the Demon Slayer Corp’s final selection, and even his epic showdown with Rui the spider demon during the Natagumo Mountain arc. Recent trailers have confirmed fans will get to play as otherDemon Slayercharacters, with the list including Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and more.
Alongside the new promo,SEGAhas also detailed three versions ofThe Hinokami Chroniclesfans will be able to purchase. There’s both a standard physical and digital copy as well as a Digital Deluxe Edition, which will come loaded with additional goodies. Included are 8,000 “slayer points,” 3 Butterfly Mansion skins, 12 character avatars for players on PS4, PS5, or Steam, 4 character unlock keys, and a custom PS4 theme. Fans who buy the standard digital edition will also get a few of these bonuses, with that version featuring 1 character key, 2 character avatars, and the aforementioned PS4 theme.
Players pre-ordering any of the three copies will get some extras too, with each edition offering one or two bonus character keys and an array of other goodies depending on the player’s platform of choice. These stretch from character avatars to the ability to play two days early, which is exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition. All in all, it looks like there’s a lot to entice a fan of theDemon Slayerfranchise, especially with a lot of the bonuses offering ways to customize their PS4, PS5, or Steam profiles. While players wait for the game, they can watchDemon Slayer’smovie adaptation,Mugen Train,which recently surpassedSpirited Awayto become the highest-grossing film ever in Japan.
