The leaked ratings board approvals set off speculation that the highly anticipated remake might launch sooner than expected. It may even be a launch title for the PS5. But such things can often be misconceptions, too. That’s why additional reporting sayingDemon’s Soulshas long been planned to be a PS5 launch title could me the rumor is true.
The report comes from Imran Khan, former senior editor at Game Informer. Khan replied to a message on Twitter asking aboutDemon’s Soulsrecent ratings leak. Khan replies, stating first that he doubts the rumor. But he then adds that, “As far as I know, they had always been targeting launch/launch window.” Khan doesn’t cite his source for the information, but is reliable in his reporting.

To repeat, Khan doesn’t trust the rumor regardless of whether the ratings are accurate or not. Khan attributes this disbelief to “COVID reasons” but doesn’t elaborate. It’s possible that he’s heard the pandemic has affected the game’s development, or perhaps he just means it in a general way sinceCOVID-19 has led to the delay of so many games. That said, Khan doesn’t believe it so far as that he thinks “it’s off the table.”
While Khan may not be persuaded, his belief thatDemon’s Soulswas targeted for release for the PS5’s launch or during its launch window is the most substantial supporting evidence available yet. It establishes that theDemon’s Soulsremake absolutely could be released this holiday, whereas before it was entirely rumor and speculation. Whether it’s true remains to be scene, but it’s now something worth taking seriously.
There’s other contribution rumors worth acknowledging, too. Just last week YouTuber Benji Sales dropped a rumor thatSony has another PS5 launch exclusive plannedthat had yet to be confirmed. They didn’t name the game, unfortunately, but speculation about what the game could be had theDemon’s Soulsremake on the shortlist. So this new report coincides rather well with that rumor.
Officially,Demon’s Soulshas no release date or window. It was only announced less than three months ago, after all. TheDemon’s Soulsannouncement trailerabsolutely looked launch quality, but it was just a short look at the game. More information about the remake is expected soon. If it’s going to be a launch window game, then more information should be expected very soon.
